Okay, I just had my second dress fitting and I am freaking out and could use some reassurance. I could not sit down easily in my form fitting dress. It flares out just past the butt so I believe my butt and hips are too big. I was considering letting it out but I was too nervous about what it would look like not being tight in that area, and I also do not have enough time to do that because the dress needs to be hemmed and I was told they can’t hem it until it is let out and they wouldn’t have enough time to do that. I told her I would try to lose weight. In two days I have lost 4 pounds, and I have 10 days until the wedding. My goal is to lose 10 pounds before the wedding. Will that be enough to provide me a little extra room in the hip/butt area of my dress? I was able to sit down in it, but I had to pull up the fabric around the hips before sitting, and even then I felt like it was going to rip. Is it acceptable to pull it up before sitting if I do not lose enough weight? The only other solution I can think of is to have my aunt who is a seamstress let it out and hem it again if it still doesn’t fit when I try it on next week, but again, I am afraid it won’t look good not being snug around the butt and hips. I am really regretting buying this dress and wish I had just gone with a ballgown. 🙁

Jakesgirl110: Do you have a picture of you in the dress? A stock photo will not really help us with how the dress is fitting on you. From what you posted, you may need to let the dress out… but we need to see you in the dress to know. Sorry Bee.

Note, the buttons can button we just didn’t feel like buttoning them all that day.

I have a very similar dress! I feel like mine is too tight as well but my seamstress has reassured me these types of dresses aren’t going to be easy to sit in. How she discribed it was when you sit your thighs spread out so it may be a little uncomfortable she has told me to shimmy the really tight part up a little so it is easier to sit!
Hope that helps!
You look stunning! Don’t regret not getting a different style!

Jakesgirl110: First, you look great in that dress! But it would also look great if you had a little more space in there.
If you’re going to be uncomfortable with how it fits, I’d either get spanx and see how that helps or have it taken out. Crash dieting is not a great choice and you might not lose the weight where you’d like to. To lose a pound a day that isn’t water weight means you need a 3500 calorie deficit. That’s nearly impossible at your weight.

The dress is beautiful on you, but if it’s so tight that you can’t even sit in it, you’re going to be miserable all day. You can definitely let it out a bit– it’ll still look fine even if it isn’t on you like a second skin. See if your aunt can do it for you, because trying to lose 10 pounds in 10 days isn’t healthy! Worst comes to worst, you can always pull it up a bit before sitting. There’s going to be a table in front of you most of the time you’re sitting, so no one will notice, and even if they did, comfort comes first!

It looks good to me. Honestly, you’ll barely sit on your wedding day, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Jakesgirl110: First, beautiful dress! You noted that the buttons can button… but do these lay flat when they are all buttoned? It appears that the buttons may pucker if all of them are buttoned… so I would assume this area needs to be let out slightly- but not by much- so that the buttons are stright in line and flat.
What did your Aunt say? She is a seamstress… has she seen the dress on you in person? Has she worked on Wedding Dresses before?

larissakay: would spanx make my butt slightly smaller?! I never considered that. I’m not crash dieting I exercise twice a day and have been eating a lot of protein through eggs meats and protein bars along with fruits and veggies. Also drinking lemon water.

BrideK2Wings: the buttons all lay flat. It’s actually a little loose in the torso. My aunt has done wedding dresses but has not seen my dress or worked on it.

My wedding dress consultant said that most people feel their wedding gowns are tight because they aren’t used to having a custom made/fit gown. She assured me that it’s supposed to be fitted and to some people who aren’t used to it, they may describe it as tight. Yiur dress looks fantastic.
