Okay bees, help me out. My Fiance is the Best Man in a wedding this summer and we just got the STD. On their website under attire it says Formal Attire Required. What does this mean? Is this cocktail attire or black tie? I feel like both of those could be considered formal, so I’m not sure what to wear.
I have a lot of time as the wedding isn’t until July, but I’m totally confused here. What do you think it means? What would you wear to this wedding?
Just to give a little more info about the wedding, the ceremony will be held at a marina overlooking the lake. The reception is on a boat that will be out cruising the lake for a few hours.

If your Fiance is the best man, then he should be able to ask the groom what that means. Or just ask the bride… with the wedding so far away, she most likely isn’t going to be bothered by guests contacting her with questions

It’s not the same as black tie, probably closer to cocktail attire. For a man, formal attire means a suit and tie. For a lady, I think it just means a fancier dress/skirt. You could definitely do a short dress or skirt (especially since it’s in July). Just make sure it’s a nice fabric and not like a typical cotton sundress. If you decide to go the pants route, I would suggest REALLy dressing it up with your heels, jewelry, etc.

@babylou: That’s kind of what I was thinking. Never want to be under or over dressed. 🙂 Thanks!
