I could really use some opinions on my bridesmaids’ dresses and whether the one we’re considering matches the formality of my wedding.
I started out looking at separates because one of my bridesmaids wanted to wear chiffon pants if possible (she’s flexible, though), so I told all of them just to pick something long (skirt or pants) and a nice top, in eggplant purple. We all – minus the pants person – went to Alfred Angelo yesterday, as their website shows separates, but they didn’t have many separates in stock. So, the girls ended up trying on dresses, sticking with the long skirts and eggplant color.
They all ended up liking the fit of the same satin dress, Alfred Angelo 7041:
I liked how easily it all came together and that they even ended up picking the same dress. They said they didn’t mind wearing satin in summer. The style also could complement the style of my dress well.
However, I am wondering if their dress might be too formal for my dress and the wedding. My dress is silk dupioni:
The reception is at a hotel in a room that is like tall-glass-greenhouse-meets-ballroom, with lots of plants and flowers and garden-looking chairs, but also large crystal chandeliers, a granite dance floor, and elegant catering. On our website, we are planning to tell people to wear cocktail attire.
Do you think this bridesmaid dress will work or is it perhaps too formal?
Thanks in advance, everyone!
