I have a ballgown but don’t want it to be too poofy – does it make sense to wear a mermaid petticoat underneath instead of a ballgown one?

Also, what do petticoats do in terms of ventilation and heat? Add or subtract?

Does DB ever accept exchanges for a different size?

I bought my wedding dress there in a size 12 but really need a size 10. It was a ZOO during my appointment and my stylist had two other parties she was juggling. I asked if I could try on the size down in my gown at the end of my appointment (even though I really only got a half hour of trying on dresses, the first hour of my appointment was us waiting for a stylist) but she talked me into the 12 saying it would fit tighter since I would be gettint a brand new gown that hadn’t been tried on a bunch of times… I was so ready to get out of the store at that point that I said okay and bought it in the 12.

Now of course each time I try it on I wish more and more I’d gone with the 10. Of course I can have it altered but I wouldn’t need to be altering it down an entire size if the right one would’ve been ordered in the first place. All I see is a firm “all sales are final” anywhere I try to look up info about exchanges. Any info you can offer?

dbstylist:  That’s tough. It sounds like this problem isn’t unique to your location. I had such an amazing dress shopping experience where I went (not DB), which is where most of the appeal of being a stylist comes from to me.

dbstylist:  Thanks for doing this! I have the Watters Kaliah dress (pic below) in light blush, but am having a tough time picking a veil and deciding if I want a petticoat. What do you think?

That’s awesome that you’re doing this! I know someone who works at David’s Bridal and seems to love it (other than long shifts)! But its probably all based on location and managers (she may have been recently promoted to manger, I don’t remember). I had such a good experience at my bridal salon (not David’s Bridal) with my stylist that I couldn’t picture anything different! But I was certainly scared to go into David’s Bridal!

dbstylist:  Thanks! That’s good to know – I’ve only looked at the colors online and I thought that “Angel” was just white since that’s how it looks on my monitor.  My wedding gown is blush tulle over oyster taffeta, from the Vera Wang collection at DB – the off white shows through the tulle and the result is a very soft pink.  I’m going for a blush/pink, navy, and gold color scheme so I want to keep the bridesmaids dresses soft or somewhat neutral.  Planning to go see some dresses in person this weekend and I’m leaning toward either ballet, ivory, or champagne.

llevinso:  I never had a bride end up getting the style of gown she came into the store thinking she was going to get.  Just saying.

dbstylist:  I know I could just go to the store and look, but I’m lazy lol. Or rather I just want an idea. What is the different between soft white and white and ivory? I know the DB white and ivory, but never looked at soft white. Is it an in between?
