I’m so in love with a dress I tried on this weekend-the sample was smaller but I can see myself in it but it’s about $2600 over budget setting the totally price before alterations and tax $5200. Im a Stay-At-Home Mom trying to figure out my options getting a part time job, start babysitting to come up with the additional half or scrap it and try to find something else. I’m in crunch time because I’ve waited so long to look but idk what to do. Anyone know of any designers similar to ysa makino/ stephen Yearick?

What’s the name of the dress and who is the designer? Perhaps some of the bees could find a pre-owned dress if you are interested in that?
It is a beautiful gown!

it looks like you’d look good in anything! but the others are right, there are many similar dresses. if your heart isn’t absolutely set on it, your money is better spent elsewhere. good luck!

I agree with PP and you should keep looking! This is a popular style and you can find something similar in your price range that you will like equally as much or more. I love the pleating in the skirt, it is very romantic. Stella York, Allure, maggie sottero, justin alexander, pronovias all make dresses with similar styles but well within your price range ($1200+). The beading is beautiful and if you like beading try some christina wu, signature justin alexander and allure couture ($2200+). I cant wait for updates to see what you find!

KEEP LOOKING. You will kick yourself for going thaaat much over your budgetb when the money stress kicks in. You have a gorgeous figure like PP said and will look amazing in so many other dresses. Keep going, keep hunting. Ask for help from the dress knowledgeable bees. You’ll find something stunning within your budget which is pleeeenty generous!

There is no way that you can’t find a dress within your budget that looks good on you. I think that buying a dress that is insanely over budget and planning on somehow magically acquiring 2 grand is madness. Keep looking.

Gorgeous! I love the beading. Allure C367 is similiar, as is Allure C364. I tried on C364 this weekend and I believe the price was right around $2300. Good luck in your search!

It isn’t that we couldn’t figure out the money but I don’t want to put the extra stress on my fiance. But I agree I’ve gotten this dress out of my head and I’m going to try again this weekend and going to look at the designers/styles that the other posters suggested. Thank you all for your input and helping me realize I can still get an amazing and similar dress within my budget!!

Here is my 2 cents since I just spent about $2k more than I wanted to spend. Keep looking…. look look look until there is no where else to look. I saw you said you’re on a time crunch, so hopefully you have time to do so. Find out from the salon when you ABSOLUTELY need to purchase it by. Keep an open mind, but if you exhaused all of your options and it is still the one you can’t get out of your mind, I feel like you can find a way to make the price work. Maybe the salon can find a way to give you 10% off (most can). Sometimes they can even sell it to you w/ no tax if you “live” out of state. Also, figure out ways to cut back, for me, I tend to shop for clothes and shoes I don’t necessarily need. From now until my wedding (8 months), I could easily spend $1k on “shopping”, so i’m not letting myself spend a cent on something I don’t need. Cut back on some mani/pedi’s… stuff like that. I was able to make it work in my mind. I did have to put some of it on a credit card but I have already paid it off and I feel great about my decision, because, I know that if I hadn’t gotten this dress, I would have always been thinking about it, and felt like I settled. I LOVE my dress and can’t see myself in anything else.
So, I say TRY to find something you love better, because it could be out there, but also, don’t settle if you think you can make the $$ work. Thats my suggestion, but I know that money might be more of an important factor. Go with your gut!

I agree with the previous posters – there’s no need to send yourself broke for one dress. Especially when there are so many dresses out there that are similar and in your price range.
The Maggie Sottero and Allure dresses sugges above would be perfect.
Also try Mori Lee – below are some of theirs:

Thank you so much after more searching online and off my fiance decided to surprise me and we went and ordered the gown. No more fabric for me (I like to sew–I’ve also decided to try to sell some of my creations)
Thank you all for your advice and help
