What about moving it further out instead?  Would that be an option?

But to answer the question, if it is financially feasible, I would move it up to get the dream venue….

We moved our wedding up 7 months because we wanted the venue we chose. It would have cost considerably more to have it on our original date. It was totally worth it; however, we still had over a year to plan. Even with our small intimate wedding, I don’t think I would have had enough time to DIY and plan all of the details that I did, if I had only 7 months to plan. I would have had to of given up a lot of what made our day special.

My engagement was sooo long (I felt -14 months), but the amount of work I did, I could definitely done it in 7.  Just get out those checklists and start crossing stuff off the list!!

@NJmeetsBX:  totally understandable to be nervous and it could be that some vendors you want are booked – BUT – that could happen with more months of planning.  I had a 14 month engagement and literally had several months where I did NOTHING (over the holidays).  I think the longer engagement gives you more breaks, where with a shorter one, you need to be a little more on top of things from a ‘something to do all the time’ type of perspective.  I also think a shorter engagement would allow you to make decisions more quickly, since you don’t have the time to hem and haw and weigh every option – you know what I mean?  that could be a curse or a blessing, depending on how you process things.

Totally do-able.  We are putting ours together in 8 months, and the longest portion of the planning for me in the beginning was finding the venue.  I thought that was the hardest part, so IMO you have the hardest thing done.  Should be plenty of time for a dress, but I would start shopping now just to ensure that if you find something that has to be custom ordered your aren’t cutting it close (I bought off the rack and am doing some major alterations).  Everything else should be fine…although some vendors might be booked, the hardest one is done, and you will have a wonderful night in the location you lOVE!!

We had to move it back for a venue we loved, but it worked in our favor! I say do it if its do’able! =)
