While randomly punching in descriptions of wedding dresses into Google Images, I accidentally stumbled upon my dream dress! It embodies everything I am looking for! But the problem is that there is no way for me to buy it! It was posted on dhgate.com which is a Chinese wholesale site – basically one of those scams where someone from China charges less than $200 to “custom make” a dress but use photos from catalogs or designers. Basically, you pay for a custom designed knock-off. I’ve read tons of horror stories about how these can go terribly wrong. And to top it off, I checked the site again today and the post was removed! Luckily, I saved the photo of the dress to my computer… isn’t it gorgeous???
I just wish there was a way for me to get my hands on it! Does anyone happen to recognize the designer? Would it be outrageous to get a pro to make it for me?

This looks a lot like the dress Mrs. DG wore.

I think DG’s dress was simpler in the front, but it definitely had a huge awesome train like that!
Are they fabric ruffles or feathers?

So I’ve searched about ten dress sites and couldn’t find that particular dress BUT I found a few that are similar just lacking the broach or the sweetheart neckline.
Aire Barcelona: http://www.airecollection.es
Jim Hjelm: http://www.jlmcouture.com (There are a few similar dresses in each collection except the Alvina Valentas…those have “cleaner lines” and make sure you look through the 2009 and 2010 collections.)
Miosa Couture: http://www.miosacouture.com
I hope you can find a dress that you like that is either exactly on or a slight difference…I think because of those ruffles it will cost a lot of money to have it custom made. Another thought is you could have it made through that chinese designer and since the price is so cheap you could go out and find another dress that you could wear if that one doesn’t turn up (or doesn’t arrive?).

Hey, have you thought about having it custom made, like from a legit vendor? There are a few sellers on Etsy that can recreate a dress from a pic, and they are reasonable, and you can ready their reviews. I am seriously considering this. Just a thought.

There is a dress maker where I live that specializes in re-creatin designer dresses. It took a little while for me to find her but she is amazing. She has a store front where you can go in and try some on that she has made. You might look around to see if there is anything similar in your area. I know this lady is worth it, she charges around $600 for a dress that would normally cost double that.

It is a Maggie Sottero!
I would really suggest finding a bridal store that carries Maggie and ordering an authentic dress rather than having one made – a lot of the reason the dresses are so gorgeous is because of the quality of the material and workmanship, and you really look like much more expensive gowns! They never quite look the same or as good when “replicated.” Just my opinion though – good luck!

*Doh* how did I not know that was a Maggie?! I must have tried on 10 Maggies in my search! (just not that one!)

DO NOT buy from one of those chinese vendors. I did and I regret it. It was and is a nightmare. If you can find it here then do..Good luck!

I second buying the real thing or maybe you can find a less expensive look a like if price is the issue. It’s beautiful, take the pic with you to a salon that carries the designer and go try it on!!

i considered going the etsy route myself and got a few quotes from dressmakers but i’m still perusing my options. i think my next step will be to find it preowned, now that i know what dress it is. sooo exciting!!
