That’s beautiful! I agree, ask the shop about layaway or paying in installments.

I would talk to your SO before buying it yourself.  See if he would be okay with buying it and holding onto it until he’s ready.  Who knows, he could already be saving up or have his eye on a different one. Buying this one because you assume he won’t could backfire.  I’d just start a conversation like, “Hey, I found this ring that I absolutely love!  I’m considering buying it for myself, just to wear as a right hand ring.  But I’d also love it as an engagement ring, so I just wanted to show it to you.”  Gauge his reaction and go from there.

If you buy it and give it to him, he might feel awkward that you’ve bought the ring yourself, it could hurt his feelings if he thinks you feel he can’t afford to buy you your engagement ring or that you wouldn’t like what he’d choose. BUT if you love this ring and want it- tell him “I found this beautiful ring at an unbelievable price- if you already have something in mind for an engagement ring or want to choose the ring yourself, I was thinking of buying this as a RHR simply because I love it.” This way you can show SO the ring first- and either he can say “Love it, let’s get that for your engagement ring” or you can go ahead and get it  for yourself as a RHR.

p.s  And I agree with other PP who’ve suggesting asking about layaway or installments  to hold the ring for you- it’s gorgeous, you don’t want other potential buyers to notice it’s gorgeous too!

Aqua59:  as a colored gem lover I am drooling soo bad! I second previous PPs. Ask about a lay away option. Engagement, RHR. It doesn’t matter! What matters is you have it!!! Lol.

Aqua59:  Oh I really hope you get it!  It is so gorgeous and vintage looking!  I’d even buy it as a RHR if your Boyfriend or Best Friend isn’t ready to propose…maybe you can wheel and deal for a lower price!

This is a very simple ring to make. When your SO is ready to propose you can take this pic to the jeweler and have it made. I would also say the diamonds in the ring look a bit off color. You can have PERFECT brilliance for around 400 dollars. Don’t worry 🙂

i fell in love with a ring on etsy. and checked on it every single day. and then one day it was gone. and my Fiance basically told me suck it up sister and get over it. it wasn’t your ring, (it was vintage) maybe you’ll find another similar. i was so upset i actually cried! i had wished i bought it! luckily, he bought it and totally shocked me! moral of my story: i’d buy it, ask about layaway or ask your SO if he would consider buying it and just saving it because it is your DREAM ring. its beautiful!!!

Buy it for yourself as a late valentine gift.
