As far as I know, all wedding dresses can be taken in up to 2 sizes without any problem

akane86:  get into alterations ASAP. With that much work to do, they need to start as soon as possible! I would make an appointment for the next available one that they have.

You’re nowhere close to an 18, right?  They say not to go more than 2 sizes because it changes the structure and look of the dress.

What does the back look like?  Mine was taken in significantly…but luckily there was a seam right down each side.  Super easy to sew back together.  I bought a sample that was about 3-4 sizes too big and it worked just fine.

akane86:  I’m not a seamstress…but you can see there is a seam starting at each shoulder…down to the waist..through the butt to hem, which I would think would be pretty easy for an experienced seamstress to take in.  I’m sure it will be just fine.   This is a stock photo (not me) of my dress back…and with that corset they were still able to take mine in up to 2 inches on each side (4 inches total) in areas.  Have faith!!!  🙂

akane86:  My dress has a similar lace back and was ordered too large.  I went in for my first fitting earlier this month (also an October bride) and everything was pinned up to my actual size.  I wouldn’t worry too much, but agree with PP that I would start getting your alterations done asap so they have time to adjust.  Fair warning – alterations have not been cheap for the work they’ve needed to do to mine.

One of my seamstresses took a 14 to a 2….it was pricey, but totally do-able for a bride’s last minute nuptials!

It’s not at all strange that she didn’t measure you before you left the store. They know that you need to order a large size to accommodate your bust. Once the dress comes into the store they will measure you very closely and start alterations process. Everything is fine. This is totally normal!
