So this weekend my Maid/Matron of Honor visited from out of town. We decided to go dress shopping, fully expecting to find nothing because I typically am so indecisive. Well, i tried on the third dress and fell in love.. again! I had fell in love with this dress online but assumed I wouldnt fit into the size it goes up to! Apparently my street size and my wedding gown size are the same! While walking about the store, a lady was checking to see the sale price. Apparently the dress i was trying on was discontinued, unorderable and the very last size 16 in the country! If i wanted the dress, I had to decide that day, and I decided to bring her home! If a dress makes you cry, Its a good sign, right? 🙂
Now I know its difficult to tell, but the dress is champagne and Ivory. The bit I need help with is whether or not one could wear antique silver with it? I created a tiara ages ago from a necklace I found at an antique store, but am unsure it would match! I am also not sure because I intend to wear my grandmother’s golden cameo pin on the back where the Obi sash is. Should I find or create a new tiara that has more gold in it? Another bit about the tiara… I fell in love with the necklace because of the emerald cut to the stones. They match my ring!

I think silver would be fine, but I just think gold is so classic and beautiful that I voted gold!

I think silver would look amazing with it. I definately agree that you can mix champagne/gold/silvers together!

Hmm I voted gold, but I could see it either way. 😀

The current silver tiara you have would look great! Just make sure to carry that same tone throughout your jewerlry.
Side note … I cried when I tried on *the dress* too! Never thought that would happen, especially not to me.

I had a feeling I would end up crying. Over a year out and I tear up when I think about the fact that I am marrying my fiancé 🙂

I think it’s fine to wear the silver tiara and the gold cameo. People are going to see the stones on the tiara, not the metal (it kind of blends in with the stones).
I also have no issue whatsoever with mixing metals. My engagement ring is yellow gold, and the band may end up white or rose gold. Every other piece of jewelry I wear is sterling silver, or white gold.
I made a tiara out of a necklace for my first wedding. It was an antique sterling silver and marcasite art deco piece that belonged to my great grandmother 🙂
