A little backstory-
I live in Boston and all but one of my six bridesmaids live elsewhere. My 2 sisters are in Philly and Chicago, 2 besties in D.C. and Vermont, and Future Sister-In-Law in Rochester. My sisters are sharing the Maid/Matron of Honor duties- BUT I am the first to get married. Not only this, but neither of them have been in a wedding nor been part of shower or bachelorette planning. Needless to say, I have been slightly worried about their planning abilities. Trust me, I am not a difficult person to please. For their dresses I found a color that JCrew was discontinuing and let them all pick their style and purchase online. They all spent less than $80 on the dress. I told them I wanted to do only one shower if I had to (I’m not a huge shower person) and that it wasn’t mandatory for everyone to be there. And finally I wanted to do something simple and easy for everyone for a Bachelorette. I felt like that was fair enough considering they were already going to have to spend enough travelling to VT for the actual wedding.
But as time went on I heard nothing about dates for these things and I began to worry. With everyone living so far apart, planning ahead of time is very important. Also, the bachelorette was certainly going to have to be over a weekend rather than a night if everyone would be travelling so far. So we’re about 6 months away and I began to worry more and more (because that’s what I do). And then, yesterday, my sister spilled all the bean… We’re going to Martha’s Vineayard!!!!!!!!
Everyone knows I can’t be surprised and with all the travel arrangements that need to be made they had to clue me in at some point. But I can’t tell you how excited and relieved I am! My only concern when she told me was the cost associated with going to the Vineyard. Between the ferry and house rentals it can be steep. But they picked a weekend toward the end of September and found a great deal on the house. We’ll be spending three nights “on island” at a cute little house in Oak Bluffs. It’s super close to the beach and shops and it’s going to be amazing!!!! And the best part is it’s only $165/night. So that combines with the Ferry cost split and bringing food over should only run my girls $135/each for the whole weekend. They have done a good job and I just wanted to share with you all! Hooray!!!!
Do you know what your ladies have planned for you or will it be a surprise??
