I actually couldn’t get into the article for some reason…too many ads I think. My generic thought on weight is that as long as you don’t have an excess amount of viceral fat around your abdomen, which will increase your risk for heart disease and diabetes, it’s not really dangerous. I’m a size 4 but I am about as healthy as the Marlboro Man, so I don’t judge people on their size. It’s how healthy that heart is! If your doctor evers says you need to lose or gain weight, listen to him/her though.

In my nutrition class there was an entire section in our text book on the backlash towards overweight people in this country. Sounds like the article was guilty of that based on pp. I don’t think we should just ignore it and encourage each other to eat like shit and let ourselves go, but we shouldn’t ridicule each other and give everyone a complex. Just eat right, stay active, don’t smoke and you’ll be healthy on the inside where it counts.

@JemmyGee:  Very true, a size 12 due to nice hips and a nice butt looks different than a size 12 due to tummy.

that article was harsh!! a size 12 short person is different to a size 12 tall person! its on BMI – and what your measurements are. if you dont have much stomach fat then ur ok. the stomach fat is really bad for you.

The author is a dummy.  As a very tall woman I take offence to the idea that everyone who wears a size 12 is overweight.

I wear a 12 in some brands and 1) my BMI is very healthy, 2) my body fat percentage is very healthy, 3) I have a good fitness level, 4) in my humble opinion I don’t look fat at all (not that I have a perfect body or anything, but I don’t think I’m fat).

And anyway, it’s stupid that I’m allowing myself to get agitated by someone who refers to themselves as “MILF Mommy” on the internet.  Blah, gross.

Some people can be ao harsh.  I’m a proud size 16.  And sure, I wouldn’t mind losing a few pounds.  But that doesn’t mean I’m not beautiful.  Being beautiful and feeling sexy has everything to do with your confidence, not your weight and size.

And actually I have wide hips and quite a booty, which my man loves by the way.  Just because you wear a bigger size jeans doesn’t mean its always because of your belly.  Lol
