Do you have a Sephora nearby?  They have a lot of different types and you could have the girls there do a trial for you.

I love Clinique makeup and they will do your makeup for you for free (they like it if you buy something at the end though). I wore it for my E-picts and it looked amazing.

Hmm I’ve never had problems with the Sephoras that I go to.  It always depends on the salesperson though.

I used MUFE High Def for our engagement pictures. Previously I had used Nars, but wasn’t totally happy with the coverage. I also live in Chicago, right on the lake, and the wind tends to make my face red if I’m out in it for too long. I feel like the coverage level is higher with MUFE, but still looks natural.

I had been in search of a new foundation that provided good coverage.  I went to Nordstrom’s on Saturday and they were doing makeovers in their makeup area.  I ended up buying guerlain silk foundation (something like that).  It provided really good coverage, matched my skin perfectly and was really lightweight.  I wanted to buy the concealer too but it was like $40 so that will have to wait until next time!

I have to say I love my bare minerals with there brushes lol

And color matching with them is pretty painless.

There starter kits usually run about $60 at Sephora or Ulta.

They have an eye primer/conceler that i use on my lids and undereyes, it is called well rested. Love the stuff!

I also have a concealer that I put on first (mine is called summer bisque I believe).

Then I apply my foundation.

It provides nice coverage and nothing ever looks caked on or feels heavy.

I love using Smashbox Photo Finish primer first, then MAC StudioFix foundation.  On a daily basis I just use the MAC, but the primer holds really well.  Smashbox is at Ulta & Sephora (and there’s other primer types too).

I also use MAC StudioFix and Smashbox Photo Finish primer! We win. On a daily basis I usually apply my StudioFix like a concealer, since my skin is pretty good and even other than a little bit of dark circles.

@ILikePink: Nice!  I’ve never heard anyone else use it together, but I got both suggestions from other bees around here and love them!

I second MAC StudioFix. I have combination skin like you and I can go all day without touching up with MAC.

I just started using the new Revlon PhotoReady foundation and I love it! I went to a wedding two weeks ago and looking through those photos, I felt really good about how even-toned I looked. It even covered up any blemishes I had.

I switched to Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation before the wedding just for the purpose of having a good foundation for e-pics and wedding photos. Love it! My skin looks flawless in the photos, and I usually get oily toward the end of the day, but didn’t need to blot, powder or reapply the ENTIRE wedding day. I use it every day now.

Check out Miss Rainbow’s old blog posts for some awesome makeup application tutorials. I followed her tutorials for the entire foundation application process, and I think that’s also a big reason why it stayed so well all day.
