I’m on the market for a foundation that is something other than a CC cream or maybelline stick foundation (which I both love don’t get me wrong)
I need to find something with medium coverage and will last for hours. As well as photograph well. I’m hoping to not spend more than $45 for a foundation but I am willing to pay more if the foundation is worth it. I can’t use bare minerals because it breaks me out. I think anything with mica breaks me out to be honest.
I have sometimes oily skin.
If you can post pictures of yourself wearing the foundation you suggest that would be great too!!
I have engagement photos coming up quick and I haven’t perfected my foundation part of my look yet. Help!!

giorgio armani luminous silk foundation
Makeup forever HD foundation
nars sheer matte
ALSO IMPORTANT– you want to make sure to you a primer so that whatever foundation you choose doesn’t slip and slide and lasts. I would recommend smashbox photo ready primer, or for a cheaper price NYX makes a clear HD photo loving primer
*******You also want to make sure whatever foundation you choose has under 15 SPF, or better yet NO SPF which can cause a flash back in photos
for my skin I use the Sephora 10HR wear perfection foundation- and also use the coastal scents camoflague pallette for Highlight and contour foundations and it works great- I always use a primer and setting powder, and setting spray and my look lasts at least 12 hours
I have dry skin so i dont think my foundation photos would help much 🙁 but here they are

I used Estee Lauder double wear light for my wedding (I think it was about $40 a tube), and it photographed beautifully. It does not have a sunscreen in it, which is apparently important for photos. I also used the Urban Decay makeup stay stuff to help set my makeup. It is about $30 a bottle but it seems to last forever.
Here is the DW Light (light is not the color…it is the formulations. There is also regular double wear, which is heavier).

My favourite full-coverage foundation is Mac ProLongwear liquid. I don’t use it often, as my typical every day wear is tinted moisturizer. But the coverage is really beautiful and flawless, and it lasts like nothing else. They also have a gigantic range of shades.

Beautyandthebusiness: Doublewear is good for big coverage. Lol I just saw the previous bee put that too 🙂
Although you don’t like BM – there’s a brand new serum foundation just out, it probably doesn’t contain mica.
Other faves -before Bare Minerals came along:
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
Guerlain Terracotta skin healthy glow (for a slight tan)
Specifically oil-free :
Shiseido Mattifying COMPACT oil-free
Laura Mercier oil-free supreme foundation
Diorskin Airflash spray
Guerlain Lingerie de peau
Liz Earle signature (her facecare range is the tops in general)
Origins anti-aging found. (also in their range the purifying charcoal face mask for clogged pores, especially when used after a facial steam! wow)
Bobbi Brown long-wear even finish (BB is used a lot for bridal make-up)
Personally, I would go begging around make-up counters, asking for trial samples of these. Explain you break out easily so you want to test it first. You can always book a real consulation if it works for you.

Beautyandthebusiness: Make Up Forever HD Foundation is what I used on my wedding day and now I can’t go back to the cheap stuff. It’s a little more than what you wanted to spend but it’s so worth it (and Sephora will let you return it if you don’t like it). It doesn’t have any SPF in it so you wont get a white face in flash photos, but for everyday wear make sure you have an SPF moisturizer underneath.
I have an oily T zone, and am also prone to breaking out with certain products.
Also on my wedding video at about the 1 min mark you can see me finishing up my makeup for a closer look.

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
Smashbox 15 hour moisturizing foundation is my go-to. The moisturizing aspect actually helped keep my oil at bay because my skin was being hydrated and therefore didn’t need to produce excess oil.

I don’t have any photos, but I wore Revlon Colorstay for combination/oily skin for my best friend’s wedding (I was a bridemaid) and it stayed put all day and night. I don’t usually wear foundation, just a BB cream on my tzone, because I break out really easily if I wear a lot of makeup. I didn’t have that problem with this foundation. I also used the urban decay deslick setting spray and the combo worked great to combat the humidity outside while we took pictures.

I wore Armani Lasting Silk (wayyy better than Luminous Silk IMO) on my wedding day. It is a bit more than what you said you are looking to spend, but it lasted, wasn’t cakey (use a beauty blender), and looked great in photos! Try a sample and see how it works for you (same goes for any foundation).

I use Bare Essentials (the powder foundation) and it works great for everyday coverage. I am likely going to order Dermablend for my wedding.

I love MUFE HD foundation and recently I’ve been loving Revlon Colorstay – took like 3 attempts to find the right shade but it stays put all day.

I went around to Mac and sephora. I think I have to go to another sephora though. I went to get color matched let me first start off saying the women who helped her fiundation was 6 shades too dark, and her contouring was super heavy. So she color matches me tested out MUFE HD on me, I like but I told her it looks orange on my skin. She said it’s the lighting and no it doesn’t.
I told her I had an allergic reaction to bare minerals so then she goes and puts bare minerals liquid foundation on my face. She only gave me 1 sample to try at home, and only talked to me about two foundations. It was a terrible experience for me. Hopefully I’ll have a better one at a different sephora.
I went to Mac and had a much better experience. She gave me a sample of the match master to take home and try. She put it on me and I really like it but it has SPF in it.
should I stick with the Mac foundaction even if it had SPF and just use a powder that doesn’t to set it? Or should I see if I can try the right shade of MUFE HD foundation?

Beautyandthebusiness: I’d get something without an SPF. Estee Lauder will give you a generous sample of double wear light in more than 1 shade. I had enough for at least a week.

Thanks for all the advice!!! Right now I really like mac’s matchmaster but I’m eh about it because it has SPF. I’m going to give the none SPF foundations a try before I make up my mind.
