silver151114: I have super oily skin too and did my own makeup for our engagement photos, which ended up being on a humid day. What worked for me is Neutrogena Shine Control primer, Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, Tarte Amazonian Clay finishing powder, and Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control setting spray.

I didn’t need to blot or do any touchups during those few hours, but for your wedding I too recommend getting some blotting sheets. I wholeheartedly recommend Lehcaresor Papier Poudre which has powder on the sheets for an extra matte finish.

After wearing BE forever, all of the sudden it seemed like it was off my face a few hours after putting it on.

I have been wearing Smashbox 15-hour for a year now and have had no problems! As my setting powder, I am now using Ben Nye Powder in Banana. I got a tip from another WB user that you put some of that powder on after your primer (I used Smashbox for this, as well)… and then put your liquid foundation over there to make it last longer. So far, so good!

I’m oily too. MAC Studio Fix foundation broke me out horribly.

+1 PP. I love Smashbox Studio Finish 15 Hour Wear foundation, it has no SPF. I think primer also makes a huge difference (Smashbox has a great photo ready one). Face powder is supposed to help with oil control but every powder I’ve ever tried has looked cake-y or clung to dry patches of skin on my face so I swear my makeup finishing sprays. I love Urban Decay Chill setting spray.

silver151114: I actually bought the Tarte amizonian clay powder foundation. Did you buy the powder? You really don’t want to be using liquid if you have oily. It doesn’t seem to last too long without sliding off your face. I have combination skin and had to switch from my liquid to this powder. I also use a oil control moisturizer and primer before applying the foundation. I don’t know too much about makeup either but this works for me:) good luck

MountainView: I second MUFE Mat Velvet, I’m shocked the sephora artists didn’t try this first! This is a GREAT mattifying foundation. You can top it with CoverFX matte mineral powder, also use a shine control primer, I like Smashbox.

bare minerals is ok, but it’s really only medium coverage and the sunscreen in it appears very white in pictures, also it can make oily skin worse.

im a MUA btw

silver151114: I find the Tarte Amazonian Clay to be super greasy. This is the best regimen I’ve found so far:

1. Dermadoctor Ain’t Misbehavin’ Serum

2. Hourglass Veil Primer

3. 2 spritzes Urban Decay De-Slick setting spray

4. Urban Decay Naked foundation (I’ve been mixing in a little bit of MUFE Mat Velvet b/c my Naked foundation is slightly dark and my MUFE Mat Velvet is ghostly white)

5. Finishing Powder (I’ve been using NARS Transluscent Crystal Loose Powder)

6. 2-3 more spritzes Urban Decay De-Slick setting spray

I agree with everyone on the bare minerals. Nay mineral makeup should do the trick.

silver151114: I’d try the milk of magnesia suggestion. My MUA did that during my trial and it helped with my oil control!

I second the Estee Lauder Double Wear or Kat Von D’s foundation. I actually use the Kat Von D foundation for overall coverage, then use a lighter Estee Lauder Double Wear as a highlighter/concealer. Both of these foundations are so light that you don’t feel as though you’re wearing makeup.

To finish, I use E.L.F’s translucent finishing powder. Whenever I do that combination, makeup stays put and I do re-powder my face at the end of the day if I have evening plans, so just keep that powder on hand. Other than that, my face is usually all good to go!

My skin is really oily too, so makeup is a total nightmare! I’ve been in love with the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer LIGHT (http://www.smashbox.com/product/6038/18506/Face/Primer/PHOTO-FINISH-FOUNDATION-PRIMER-LIGHT/Studio-Artist-Favorite/index.tmpl) for years! I use it with the MUFE HD foundation that photographs amazingly and couldn’t be happier! I also uso the Lancome Teint Miracle with the same primer, and it is as amazing as the MUFE!

I think with a good primer there’s no going wrong!

silver151114: I have the same troubles as you, and for my engagement shoot my makeup artist used Kevin Aucion. You have to apply it a certain way (i’m sure you could youtube it), but my face didn’t get nearly as oily as it normally does- and that was during a 6 hour photo shoot. My makeup artist did have to blot some powder on a couple of times, though.

silver151114: Ah I’m so sorry I just saw this! To be honest, I’ve never used it all over my face, just under my eyes/upper cheeks :p I can definitely try it out for you though if you’d like!

Another suggestion is that if you go to the Estee Lauder makeup counter, they will match your shade and instead of buying the full size, you can ask for samples! I usually try to do that with new foundations anyhow just so I can see how it’ll feel on my skin for an entire day.

I love my Estée Lauder double wear light. Matches to my skin perfectly but is not heavy and it has low SPF so there will be no shine in your wedding photos. 🙂 good luck, and I am sure you will look beautiful. I too also did my own makeup and researched heaps before I brought new products. I also used the Estée Lauder double wear matching concealer.
