Hi everyone! I’m a huge fan of Bath and Body Works (those are the other online forums in involved in, I have a blog about them and everything) so I knew when I started planning my wedding that fragrance would be a big part of my day.
i am wearing the fragrance Sweet Pea on my wedding day. It’s one of the fragrances that will be around for a long time because it is such a classic.
my mom and I also plan to buy a bunch of candles during their semi annual sale this summer in either the scent gelato or strawberry picnic. We are going to replace the labels with pics of myself and my fiancé and place them here and there in the reception. Just enough to give a little scent.
im also buying a couple of their full size hand sanitizers to place out at the buffet and cookie table… I’m thinking of the sugar lemon fizz scented one.
are you into fragrance? How will you incorporate it on your big day? Or… What’s your favorite kind of scent (fresh, floral, fruity, etc?) and theme? Maybe I can direct you to the ones that will fit you best 🙂

I love the candle idea… I may borrow that! sweet pea is such a pretty scent and I sure it will suit you perfectly!
I plan on purchasing a fragrance that’s completely new to me to wear the day of my wedding and the weeks leading up. I have scents I wore at different times in my life that trigger such memories and emotions whenever smaller them so I plan to purposefully create a scent memory for myself and my wedding.

Well, I’m going to be wearing DKNY Be Delicious – I looooove that smell, and so does fi!
We are having alot of vanilla scented candles, we have tossed around the idea of doing some oil warmers as well, but not sure – if we did we’d turn them on AFTER the food.
Have you made sure none of your guests have allergies or are sensitives to smells?

I don’t like artificial fragrances due to the phthalates they use (I used to use designer perfume until I realized how bad it was for my health, and my loved ones’ as well… if you smell something, that means it is entering your brain through your olfactory bulb), and I think I’ll just go for the natural scents of the flowers, venue, and food, rather than add any essential oils or anything to the mix. In this case, less is more, from my perspective.

Replacing the labels with pictures of you sounds like a great idea. Like JplusJ said, there is definitely a memory-triggering reaction to certain smells, that incorporating those scents will make your wedding that much more memorable.
Personally, though, most artificial scents trigger an allergic reaction in me so I’ll be staying away from that. It will be difficult though, since my FI’s family is heavily into perfumes!

- Wedding: May 2013 - Walt Disney World
I can’t have a lot scents at the wedding because my grandmother is asthmatic. However, I will be wearing a perfume that I have not ever worn (Dolce and Gabbana Rose The One) and Fiance will be wearing the male version.

@CiaArielleNeugebauer: I’ll probably be wearing Dior J’adore (my signature special occasion scent). Are you lighting the candles or just putting them there to add to the ambience? B&BW candles give off a decent amount of fragrance even when they’re not lit. Just asking because too strong of a scent might be cloying to your guests, especially mingled with the scent of their other food. I’d take the lids off but leave them unlit.

@Aquaria: That’s what I wore.
And I have a whole cabinet of probably… 50 or more perfumes… maybe more like 70.
That stuff is amazing! I just bought my 3rd Burberry Body, the Tender version last weekend, looooooove.

I was so nervous and had an upset stomach on my wedding day that I didn’t even wear my favorite perfume. I did everything myself, and was packing up the van with the wedding decor the morning of the rehearsal dinner, was baking like a mad woman in the days leading up to the wedding, and was doing too much I guess. At the rehearsal dinner I ended up almost taking fainting spells in the bathroom to the venue. Luckily everyone really helped out and set everything up for me. I felt really blessed to have them all there to help out! But yeah… the next day I still wan’t too chipper so I decided against the scent, just in case it would set me off. The hairspray at the salon was turning my stomach so I figured no perfume was a good idea! (Everyone thought i was pregnant apparently… which I’m not, and in fact was leading up to my time of the month… another reason I think I felt ill!) Yikes!

@CiaArielleNeugebauer: For Christmas my uncle got me BCBGBMaxAzaria’s Bon Chic. My SO LOOOOOOVES it, so that’s what I’ll probably use on my wedding day. I really like Chloe and wear it on special occassions, so that’s another contender.
I have thought about having a “signature scent” incorporated into the day with candles or something, but I’m still not sure since a lot of people have alergies. I really like that scent Westin resorts use… I think it’s called White Tea and Bamboo or sometihng. Just a clean, fresh scent without being “grassy”. If I did go for it, I would use something like that.

@JplusJ: keep your eye on bath and body works!!! What’s your wedding theme and season? They have some great ones coming out next fall 🙂
@jenilynevette: yes I’ve already verified that we would be okay. We are doing a very small number too, not like every table.
@joya_aspera: for me it’s a way to pull something personal in. I run a very popular BBW blog, and my family knows it. And I’ve been wearing perfume, burning candles, and using scented soap for years with out any problems. it’s a personal choice.
@vegrabbit: that’s why I picked sweet pea for my body care! Lol and my Fiance will recognize it, he still remembers the perfume I wore for our first date!
@Aquaria: ill be burning the candles. With no offense I tended, but I know alot about BBW and can measure really well what is too much, esiscially from years of burning for parties. Additionally like I said I’m not burning them on every table… It’ll be a couple on the gift table, cake table, coffee table, and “fun table”. Our reception hall is the size of a high school basketball court so people will only smell them if they are near them.
@nl: that stinks =/ I wear fragrance every day, so I’m used to it and hopefully won’t have a problem.
@MexiPino: try the bath and body works white barn Renew and refresh candle. It’s light and airy. And it should be dc’d in June, so it’ll be cheap. They also have a fresh bamboo.
@IUrebekah3RT: il have to smell that one! The big reason I picked sweet pea is that it’s a classic… It’ll be around for years. Plus it comes in lotion, cream, shower gel, bubble bath, mists, shimmer sprays, EDTs… Like, everything. So I can layer it.

I wore Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille on my wedding day. It’s got a lovely deep vanilla smell, which I thought was perfect for my December wedding. And now, every time I wear it, it brings back happy memories!

My only concern w/ buying up a bunch of candles this summer is if they’ll still be as fresh come next year? I don’t have a ton of Bath and Body Works candles so I don’t know how strong they are and how they do if you hold on to them for a while. If you’re passionate about Bath and Body Works, this is perfect for you – why would you wear any other fragrance, you know?
Ideally, I want a brand new fragrance for our wedding, but I’m afraid I won’t find one I like in time. My partner and I are both fairly picky about fragrances, and he is sensitive and doesn’t like a lot of smells. One of my favorite perfumes (Tocca’s Brigitte) he thinks is just okay. He isn’t allergic to it or dislike it, but he isn’t as over the mood like he is about the other fragrances I wear more often (any of my LaVanilla, Ginestet Botrytis, Aromachology Totally Edible, DKNY Pure …the one that has Verbena in it).

@MsLobizon: the shelf life for BBW candles is about five years, all other products from them are 2-3 🙂 I know a few women who are bath and body works fans who have a large collection of the 14.5 oz candles (one had a little over 350 around Christmas from what I remember). I don’t have anywhere near that many, but I’ve been stocking up a little so that I have candles to burn once I’m married and might not be able to afford theM. Additionally I live near a “test” store… Essentially the company launches line of products there and based on review and success they determine what will launch nationwide. Sometimes fragrances released in that store are never released nationwide. For example they currently have a lakeside theme with 6 fragrances… It just launched nationwide, but in February it came out in the test store… Except there were 9 scents available then… 3 didn’t pass test phase.
