As far as I have heard Florida beaches have not been affected and they are preventing them from being affected!

I’m in FL on our honeymoon now and we keep being “advised” not to travel to the Gulf side because of the oil spill if we’re looking to go in the water. Which sucks, because we were going to go to the Treasure Island area for part of our trip. It sounds like they don’t know one way or another but they keep saying the current may bring the oil around even to the Atlantic coast by sometime this week. Which may bust our Cocoa Beach plans as well. I’m thinking we’ll still go and just try our luck 🙂

What about going up the east coast? We’ve done some Cape Cod honeymoons in the past, and many couples enjoy them.

You could also do a cruise with the budget that you have. The cruise lines are doing a great job of navagating around the spill. And your meals would be included which would help keep you within your budget.

What about the beaches in South Carolina or Georgia? Atlanta? Savannah? Charleston? Also, there’s Orlando, which is inland in Florida and includes Disneyworld and Universal Studios.

My fiance and I are going to Charleston, SC.  We also originally had planned to travel to Florida, but were also discouraged by the oil spill.  There are some great looking hotels in Charleston.  We are staying at The Wild Dunes Resort.  It’s a little more pricey, $240 a night, but there are other hotels. I just went to Travelocity.com and started looking up hotels in the area.  We chose Charleston because it was on the beach and had some really beautiful historical areas.  Good luck with whatever you choose!

Have you thought about going to Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands? I don’t believe that it’s been affected by the oil spill and you don’t need a passport to go either of those places.

Not sure where you’re flying from, but Atlanta to Puerto Rico is usually around $250. USVI is usually a little bit more at around $350. It definitely would be cheaper than flying out to California.

We did New Orleans for our honeymoon. There’s no beaches, but it’s warm and we had fun!
