Ouch, yeah coming from a dairy person living in Madison, that is not good. World Dairy Expo is definitely a big deal – heck I’m going to be there again this year. Where is your ceremony/venue at? Or at least what side of town? You could try some of the further out suburbs that might be less packed with football fans/dairy folk. Might be further for your guests to drive, but better than having no where to stay. Also maybe look at bed & breakfasts, don’t know if they would book up with those people as well.

How many hotels have you called? And where? I mean, if you are calling hotels at all close to Camp Randall/Alliant Energy center, you’re not going to get anything, but further out might work.

You could always arrange some kind of shuttle service if you do end up being further away.

PM if you need more help/don’t want personal info on the board. I know that all the dairy judging teams will be in the weekend of your wedding, which is why WDE is booking all the hotels so far ahead of the main events. They generally book cheaper hotels though, so some of the ritzier ones might still have rooms.

@bonsai_spork:something else – you mentioned his family is all local, would they be willing to let any of your family stay with them?

Sorry this is happening and boo on your Future Mother-In-Law for dropping the ball on this.

check this out http://www.vrbo.com/271091

4 bdrm house, 19 miles from madison, can accomodate up to 13 people, which appears to be available your wedding weekend.

We’ve done vacation rentals through vrbo several times before, as it is always cheaper for a group to stay in a house than in hotels. Plus it’s more fun for the guests. Hope this helps.
