oh my god.  I would be panicking.

i’m having my own drama with my reception location (they charge per head and I feel like they’re trying to screw me out of my date in favor of someone with more people and they only book one year in advance so I can’t even book for another few weeks so how can anyone else have that date?)

But the fact that you already have everything else booked and that date is full elsewhere… yes I would be freaking out.  I say keep calling places, maybe you have to travel a bit farther… and maybe you can call the place you’ve currently booked, and straight up ask them about the rumors?

*fingers crossed* Hopefully they get back to you quickly and are honest about the situation.

still waiting to hear back from my venue, too. Last thing the lady said was well they could definitely make that date work if we are gone by 4pm… wtf so you’re going to have someone else in that night, or what?? But I told them I’d rent it overnight too if needed, so the $ shouldn’t be an issue…. and they’re QUAKERS, aren’t they supposed to be nice and not money-driven? lol.

Ha, I can just imagine your Fiance awkwardly trying to soothe you while not getting it at all….

No not really… :-/ that’s for my ceremony and reception, and there’s nowhere really similar, and certainly not in that price range so they kind of have a monopoly over me…

*total threadjack, sorry πŸ™‚

Are there any options for you other than the places you already called?

@Edigney:  know anyone with property nearby that would be willing to let you set up a tented party?

@Edigney:  How big is your guest list? You could also consider renting out a restaurant for the night or some have private dining rooms for parties (if your guest list isn’t huge).

This EXACT situation JUST happened to me last week. We had our deposit returned to us with a note from the venue’s attornies saying that they are in foreclosure. We are getting married in May 2013, but thankfully had not booked any other vendors. We have ones picked out, but we had yet to sign a contract. The sad thing is that any brides getting married this fall are really in a tough spot right now. At least we have time to find a new venue, but I know how much it sucks to start that search all over again.

So here we are with summer nearly over (we’re teachers) and now making all these appointments to visit new places. Uuuugggh….

I wish you guys the best though! Hopefully you can find a place that is even better!

@Edigney:  Oh my god, if we didn’t get our deposit back I would be freaking out. Is there any legal recourse you have if the money is not refunded? For us, that was $1,500! Nothing to snub your nose at!

Oh good!! I’m so glad you were able to find another venue.  Still waiting to find out the availability on mine πŸ™
