We invited more people than our venue could hold (25 more) but we knew ahead of time that two families of 6 would not be able to attend, plus two of my cousins that live in AZ, FI’s friend in Korea, etc.  We knew that we’d get 25 no’s and we did.  I was hoping for 40 no’s…..still waiting for those last 30 or so reply cards to arrive.

Oh no!  I found that the closer to deadline we got, the more regrets we got.  I hope that is the case for you!

Who are the “extras” you let come?  Any chance they are parents’ friends and you can ask for some assistance from the parents?

I never trusted “the third” estimate, where a third of you guest won’t attend.  Of the 148 we invited, only 10 aren’t coming.

Don’t stress out. We did the same thing.  We had 60 who hadn’t responded yet and most of those came in as NOs.  Then we had about 15-20 who had said YES that didn’t show up. So it brought our numbers back down to what we thought we’d have.

Im in your boat. We invited 300 (because we forgot to invite his department buddies or his neighbor), it grows amazingly quick!

We are hoping for around 250. If not, we are in sooooo much trouble!

We’re sending out about 190 and hoping for 150. We can fit the extras and afford them if we have to but I’m hoping that we’ll stick to around 150 as it will be more comfortable inside with that number. Those extra 40 were, of course, add ons that other people HAD to have. Bleh.

I just want to say that you totally brought it on yourself–you shouldnt invite people that you assume wont come–because you dont know for sure.

Eeek!  I am totally in the same boat.  We invited 230, hoping for 180 max, and so far have 75 coming and only 6 “No’s”.  6.  Every time I open those little pink cards I’m just hoping that they say “Declined with regret”.  Is that bad?  We had to invite so many people that Fiance and I don’t even know (friends of parents/way way distant relatives) and so I really just want the people that are close family/friends to show up!
