When I set up our room blocks for the hotels, we were told that if 15 rooms were booked in one of them, we would get the suite for free on our wedding night. (weddings not in a hotel)

I booked it asap – and if we don’t book 15, we will pay for it a t a really good discount.

It’s in the contract, but even if it weren’t I have all the e-mails saved with the contact I have at the hotels and it would be really easy get them to see their error.

I got a comp room for the night of my wedding from the hotel, but I went ahead and booked it for the night before and had them extend the stay and followed up with my banquet manager with the confirmation number so he could comp it….however it was brought up when I originally signed the contract, but was not physically written (my stupidity, don’t ever do that, make sure all details are spelled out on the contract!) but lucky for me the Banquet Manager remembered me and honored it.  If it was not mentioned previously, you def want to ask.  Worse they could say is no.

when we booked a block of rooms for out-of-town guests, they automatically saved the "honeymoon suite" for us, but we are actually paying to stay at a different hotel because on our first night as man and wife, we kind of want to be alone. 🙂  so, i would definitely ask them if you can get your room for free or see if not, maybe they will throw in something for you guys (free room service, free room upgrade, free something).

Just ask,if you can get one night comped.  Especially if you have a block of rooms for your Out of Town Guests or Bridal Party.  The worst they can say is no.  If they do say no ask for a discounted rate or a free upgrade to a suite from a regular room.  And if you can, do it in person, while it is harder to ask in person it is also harder to say no.

You would be amazed at what you get if you ask.  If you still get a know from your coordinator then when you call to book the room tell the person that it will be your wedding night and they may give you a discount or an upgrade.  And then call the front desk a few days before the wedding to confirm your reservation and mention it again.  A lot of hotels will upgrade or put complimentary champagne in a room because of a honeymoon or wedding night because they think it will bring repeat business on anniverseries.

you should definately ask. a free night for the bride and groom was included in the package, but they upgraded us to a HUGE two story suite… on top of that, they also comped two more rooms (one for the brides parents and another for the grooms parents… which we ended up just giving to our friends so they didn’t have to worry about driving home). anyway, all this was written up in the contract, so you want to make sure they do that.

No such luck at my hotel.  Only 10% discount w/our weddnig being there as well.  But we do get a $500 credit I can use towards room because I picked the most expensive wedding package.  So that gives us 1 night free.

My Maid/Matron of Honor has 1 night comped at her hotel – it was in the contract.  It never hurts to ask!  They’ll expect it.

We have the night of reception comped provided we spend $XXXX amount of money at the reception.  We’re going to easily pass that number, but I should make sure that is in our contract.  I’m so glad I have Weddingbee to find out about these things!

always ask- I once called for a few of my friends (they had a simple civil ceremony) and I let the hotel know that my friends were just married, and I had heard form my uncle that the hotel chain treated them realllly well on their wedding night (of course, I have no idea where my uncle had his honeymoon, but it helps to say they’ve given exceptional service before, so they’ll want to match it!)

They got a late check out, free breakfast, and champagne in the room, and they had no guests stay the night. So, always try!!!
