I signed up for formula samples years ago to help a yound single mother tenant get alittle extra free formula.  5 years later I am still getting the samples.  Now I pass them along to friends and family along with all the coupons they send.  I just got two large powder cans in the mail last week.  I wonder at what age they realize that your child is old enough not to need the formula, until then, it saves my loved ones alot of needed cash.

So far I have gotten a free nursing cover (just paid shipping) a free sling (just paid shipping), I have gotten a bunch of Johnson and Johnsons free product coupons (which you can use for their gift packs), some free diaper coupons, I have applied for the free nestle package (diaper bag, change pad, formula can and rice cereal box), and a bunch of other free stuff. I got a couple of Avent bottles for free (from Motherhood, and Thyme – I also got avent coupons), I know when you register at Babies r us here, you get a free playtex drop ins bottle, with a small back of the bags, and some coupons.

@miss-spunkin: If you go to the individual formula companies, there is usually a section to sign up for “emails” and such.  I have a special account set up for stuff like that.  I used to get all kinds of stuff.  Bottles, baby books, baby planning books, diaper coupons, etc… Just go to every website for every product that you suspect you will use and they will generally have stuff to sign up for.

When I was post-delivery, the nurses were so nice.  I think I left the hospital with 10 small diaper bags filled with stuff to get me by for the first week or two.  The nurse told me I would not feel like leaving the house for at least the first few days so she wanted to make sure that I wouldn’t have too.  If you use a product that you like while in post delivery, just ask for it.  The nurses told me that it is what that stuff is there for.

I have found that most of the “free” stuff I have received is stuff I didn’t need or intend to use. I got on the Motherhood mailing list and I suddenly started receiving formula samples (I EBF), diaper coupons (we use cloth) and ads for cord banking (we did delayed cord clamping).   I finally had them change my due date @ Motherhood so I would stop getting that stuff in the mail.

@MzMarzipan:  You could donate that stuff to a local battered womans shelter, they are always in dire need of those things.  Bonus, you would get a tax deduction for it also.

@Ms Mini: Oooh where did you find those deals (especially for the nursing cover and sling)? I’m interested in building up a stockpile now so the cost isn’t so great right as the baby is born!

Ooooo I’d love to find “free” stuff like that even if I do have to pay shipping I would. Maybe something to google in my free time. lol

@shimmerofheaven: I got offers for the free sling/nursing cover from http://www.planningfamily.com . I signed up for the newsletter, and every so often they email me with an offer. I think I just paid shipping on them. Also, americanpregnancy.org has an option to sign up for samples and coupons.

I got s goodie bag when I shopped out Desination Maternity but it was mainly for coupons that I didnt really need. They did also give me free juice, snacks while I shopped.

I also got the free baby sling and nursing cover but I did have to pay shipping. I also got an offer for afree car seat canopy but I declined that because I really dont see myself using that. I got these free offers because I signed up with Planning family.com

At my first OB visit I got a sampler pack of different prenatal vitamins, a bag, magazine, book and formula.  When I went to the hospital for my NT scan I got more formula and a magazine.

Well this is not like an “official” free thing, but I have gotten so many hand me downs since I have been pregnant. I have not really had to pay for a thing because all my girlfriends, family members, and customers from work have been showering me with goodies.

So far we have gotten (for free):

-A brand new bassinet that the previous owner’s baby did not like to sleep in

-An amazing papasan swing

-A still-in-box ergo baby carrier (a gal got two at her shower and just gave me the extra!)

-2 Playards

-A bouncy seat that vibrates and sings

-An exersaucer

-An ENTIRE dresser full of baby girl clothes

-Two pairs of never been worn baby shoes

We have gotten so lucky! Anyone else gotten free “swag” from their friends, coworkers, or family members?

On a side note, I also enjoyed the free gift bag from Motherhood Maternity

Definitely call Johnson&Johnson (ph# on a product bottle or something) – I used to work for one of their call centers a few years ago and we gave away so much free stuff.  Coupons and samples of their baby products and such.
