I am freeking out and just need an ear to listen. I am geting married in 2 weeks from tomorrow – on July 24. When we got engaged, my parents booked a photographer in the area where the wedding is taking place. (We are getting married half way between the majority of my family, and the majority of FI’s family, but Fiance and I live in Virgina ((a 13 hr. drive)) and my parents live in New Orleans ((a 3 day drive))). So we booked this photographer, and my parents put money down and signed the contract. FI’s family lives 2 hrs. from our wedding location, so when we visited them at Easter, we met with the photographer. The meeting went well, and were given many different options in regards to how many hours and whether we wanted him to do the albums. Fiance and I looked at his work and agreeed that we wanted him to do our wedding, and got a good feeling from him.
Fast track to last week – I hadn’t heard anything from the photographer since Easter, so I sent him an email updating him on where Fiance and I were getting ready, and how the ceremony was going to be. I also told him that we were not going to do the albums with him, because just for 3 (20 page albums) for about $4000 and up. We thought that it was a rediculus price, since we were paying close to $1000 just for the pictures. So, I sent this email last Monday and I haven’t heard anything yet. I am two weeks out and now, I am afraid that I don’t have a photographer for my wedding!!!! Everything else is all set, and I thought that everything was together, and now I may not have any pictures of my day.
Thanks for listening bees!!

I am getting married the same day as you and am trying to contact all my vendors for a final check-in… if I were you, I would be calling every day until I got a hold of him!

well you did sign a contract with him so he needs to uphold his end… i would try calling him. some people dont check their email daily. leave a message and say you need to speak with him asap as the wedding in in only 2 weeks.

Email him again just saying that you’d like to confirm that everything is alright and when to expect him to arrive for the wedding day. Then wait a couple days and contact him again. Do you have a phone number for him? I’d try phoning him if he persists in ignoring you.

I agree you just need to keep emailing and calling him. Be very clear that you want confirmation from him and need to discuss details.

Maybe he thought you were informing him of the details and he didn’t feel the need to respond. Try calling him or e-mailing him to ask him if he received your previous e-mail.

This is the busiest wedding month of the year – he is probably just swamped. I would email him again. Also, this close to your date, you may not be able to get out of the albums. Don’t be surprised if he tells you that, especially if it is in your contract. THose aren’t outrageous prices for the albums, either – the really nice leather lay-flat albums (the professional ones, not the cheap adorama ones) WHOLESALE for $700+ each. When you factor in the time he will spend laying them out and contacting you back and forth about what pics, what materials, etc etc they should cost that much. (But I agree it is still amazingly expensive – we couldn’t afford it)

I’m getting married in Albany too – just curious; where are you getting married, and if you want to share, who is your photographer? My post is totally not helpful, but I am just curious:)

We are having our ceremony at The Hubbard Interfaith Sanctuary at The College of Saint Rose. Fiance and I are both alumni and are very close friends with the chaplan on campus. For the reception we are going to the Albany Marriott. They have been so helpful through the entire process of planning, and really have gone above and beyond. Which is so helpful since we planned everything from 13 hrs. away. Our photographer is Bob Donlon. But see my post below for another photographer, if you are still looking.
UPDATE: So yesterday (friday) my father called the photographer again, and left another message with him. He called me back saying that “well didn’t you get my email” and I was like “no”. Well, he finalized everything with me, then said well are you going to call your father or do you want me to. I said that I think that he should check in with my parents, since the contract was made with them and all. So for right now, it looks like everything is going to work out (crosses fingers). I think that everything will work out, but you never know. I am just so thankful to another local photographer, John Whipple, who was going to come in at the last minute!! He was so helpful and everything. I would totally recommend him to any bride in Albany, based just on his understanding and his consideration for our situation. I cannot begin to thank him enough.
