helloyestoast :  it looks lovely.  I don’t have this one, but I have one with engraving – which is a similar sort of effect. In the advertising images they highlight the pattern to make it stand out – IRL it’s more subtle. Here’s mine …

helloyestoast :  yes, at an arms length away the engraving on my rings really isn’t noticeable. If you like the engraving and want to see more of it, you can have your ring antiqued – where they use a chemical that darkens the grooves – so the engraving stands out much better.

I don’t personally have this, but I always thought it was a very pretty detail 🙂

This is a plain band, but it has the same pattern as the ring you’re thinking about. And it’s a photo, so you can tell a little better what it looks like https://www.etsy.com/listing/226672270/love-rope-14k-white-gold-braided-wedding?ref=market

I think the reason the paint version you made looks “cheap” is because a lot of the time when you mess around with representations of rings they look like plastic. Metal has a very specific shine to it and sometimes that’s hard to get in a drawing.

Made from real metal this ring won’t look cheap. The 3 stone with pears could look lovely as well. There are quite a few round and pear 3 stone rings around if you look. And they’re gorgeous. The pattern of the band would be what makes yours stand out from the other ones. Three stone rings don’t usually come off too busy unless you’ve got a lot of extra stuff on them as well.

helloyestoast :  I think sometimes when they exaggerate the shinyness of the metal in pictures it makes the item look cheap to some people because it looks like the chrome that’s on really cheap costume jewellery. Gold doesn’t look like that, but I don’t think its a flaw in the ring, it’s a flaw in photo editing.

I like it so much more without the pear side stones!
