I’m not sure how I plan on doing my nails yet, though I had previously assumed I would do a French mani/pedi. My mom, however, has just informed me that she thinks this is Trashy!
Is this true bees? I know that any nails can end up looking trashy if they are too long, but I’m talking the average length, simple french manicure.
What do you think Trashy or Classy?
And how are you planning on doing your nails?

Classy – french is the only manicure I ever get. I don’t care for the look of color on fingernails. It’s just not my cup of tea.
I’ve NEVER heard anyone call a french manicure trashy.

I’m assuming you mean the white tips and not some other color, so I chose “classy”. The only reason I would have chosen “trashy” is if they were tipped in any other color (green/blue/black/etc.) or super long. I really don’t care for nails in any funky colors for formal events though.

I think “trashy” is a little harsh. But personally, french manicures are not my cup of tea. And I don’t understand French pedicures–the white on the end gives the illusion that the toe nails are long. I’d say go for solid colors.

i agree that calling them trashy is a little harsh, but french manicures are not for me. i think it’s the ones with super long nails that get them a bad rap though. i’m a solid color gal myself.

You know, no matter what you do there will be at least one person in the world who thinks it’s trashy. Do you like the look of a French mani/pedi? If so then go for it!

@Violet Violet: Hummm…. my toenails always look shorter when a get a french pedicure versus when I get a solid color. The non-white part of the nail blends with the skin more so it doesn’t stand out where as all of it stands out and is prominant when fully painted a color.

I like french manicures but for a wedding I don’t like them for me. I’m not sure if I think it looks dated or what but i will be going with a light natural solid color so it blends in better. But to each their own.

I think they can look really good on some people, and just don’t suit others!! So if you like it, go for it!!! Personally, I will be getting a solid colour, probably a very pale pink or light light beige, and painting my toenails in OPI Green-wich Village (my fav, and matches our theme.)

I only wear a french manicure on my hands….I never do color. However, if the nails are REALLY long, I don’t think it looks as good. I also do the french pedicure and it doesn’t make my toenails look longer. Now there are some people that actually get a fake “tip” added to their big toenail to make it long and I just think that’s gross.

@Mrs.KMM: Just an opinion–I should have also mentioned that I hate feet in general, so that could also be a reason…

FH loves french and I love color (or french with color) But I LOVE french on toes!
Edit- I would never say its trashy just not fun enough for me

Hmmmm, I’ve never thought of them as “trashy” before and didn’t realize some people may think that when they see my french manicure. I still think they’re pretty, and I’m going to try not to have a complex next time I go to the nail salon, lol!

I don’t ever get french manicures, I prefer solid colors. I would never call it trashy though. I just don’t like when people have super long white tips.

I love the look of a french manicure. I had it for my wedding in April. I don’t see how it can be viewed as trashy? I can understand somebody not liking it, but how is is trashy? Interesting. I personally think it’s beautiful, simple and of course matches anything and everything. I think you should get what you want though!
