So I did something I told myself I would NEVER do. I bought a dress that is ivory, ie. NOT WHITE! Not that it REALLY matters but I always wanted a WHITE dress. Alas, to my dismay, the dress I fell madly & ndeeply in love with did not come in white, nor could be ordered in white, even though my DB consultant told me it could. However, I love the dress anyway but hadn’t thought about it till was painting my nails (hot pink). I can’t have a WHITE french manicure on my nails, the dress is IVORY!!!
So what should I do? a classic french tip is what I had always planned on but now I am thinking maybe a blue tip with a silver or champagne colored line (wedding colors are Horizon blue, Champagne, Silver, & Yellow) Suggestions please!!! Also if anyone had an ivory dress and has pictures of their nails, please show me!!

I also got an ivory dress from DB (CMK-513). I will order a bottle of OPI Nail Polish Lacquer Cream of Crete Ivory French from the lady I always buy from and let you know how it goes!

@SparkleBaby: Maybe you could do more of an American manicure?
I tend to like to use OPI’s Kyoto Pearl for that, but that might be too silvery. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a more creamy “pearl” color in OPI’s line. Orly has one or two pearl type colors that could work as tips as well.

I had a cream wedding dress and wore a French a manicure. I told the nail lady that my dress isn’t stark white and she put a coat of the neutral/pinkish polish over the white tips. It looked just a bit less white so it was fine. I all got some flower, pearl, and crystal decals ony thumbs and ring finger and she made them all different shades of white and it looked perfect.
Can you do something like that? I would still get white tips though, I wouldn’t get ivory or cream tips- they may look dirty

Are you opposed to one solid color? I wore an ivory dress and did a nudeish/light pinkish color.

Don’t worry. I think you’ll be fine with a classic French manicure. My dress was silk and was diamond white (a.k.a. light ivory), and I had a classic, French manicure done with nail polish only. Here is a pic:

I honestly can’t imagine that this will make any difference. Unless your ivory is really yellow-y or champagne-y, or your French manicure white is really artificially white, you should be fine. I mean, if you didn’t do ANY nail polish, your nails would be French-ish and it wouldn’t be a scandal!
My dress was ivory and I had a standard French manicure — you can judge for yourself whether this is a dealbreaker for you.

I think it will look nice, as PP have posted pictures above you can see it doesn’t clash at all.

I think a natural french (or “American manicure”) looks better anyway, and will go fantastic with your dress.

I think you’re over thinking it. I don’t think my nails clashed with my dress at all, and in person it was a very creamy ivory
(Please ignore my lace bolero being flipped and out of place on my chest. Grr…)

Honestly no one will be able to tell.
My dress was alabaster (version of ivory) and I have white tips.

@SparkleBaby: I’d still do the French. But you can also ask for an American manicure. It’s not as harsh white more of an off white tip
