Our ceremony is on a Friday afternoon followed by a Friday evening reception in December. We are inviting about 200 people and I’m expecting at least 150 will attend the reception. I realize that probably a decent amount of people may not want to take off work for the ceremony, and have no problem with that.
The question is – has anyone had experience with a Friday afternoon wedding? or know what percentage of my guests to expect at the ceremony?

We are having a Friday wedding, ceremony starting at 5PM, reception ending at 11pm. We’re hoping mostly everyone we RSVPs yes attends both the ceremony and reception, and arrives on time… to not arrive on time would be tacky! We shall see… eek!

We have attended a handful of Fridayn ceremonies over the past year. I would say roughly half of the people at the reception were at the ceremony. Sadly people see it as optional and don’t want to “waste” a day off for a wedding. If the ceremony is at 6 versus 5 you probably would have more people in attendance too.

I suppose I should guess around half then! I, too, have been to several Friday weddings recently – though not all were as early as ours will be, but of course I didn’t take notice of how many attended the ceremony or reception (though I definitely would have if I’d known I’d be asking this question within a year of them!)

We had a different situation with our ceremony on friday but our reception on Saturday. Also we didn’t invite everyone to the ceremony since we wanted it to be very private/family only. But out of the people that were invited, pretty much everyone that we expected showed up. It ended up being 37 out of 45 invited. 🙂
