- Wedding: May 2013
It will be quite some time before I get back my pro photos, but I wanted to share some guest photos from my May 3 Wedding 🙂 I’m not sure if I want to go all out on here, so I’ll leave my pup’s face in the main photo with a few others.
We had a Friday evening wedding at a gorgeous Northern Virginia (DC Metro Area) Country Club.
LOVED: The day was gorgeous- sunny and in the 60’s (which was a huge relief as it rained the entire week leading up to the wedding!)
We had our dog walk down the aisle off leash with my sister/MOH- he made a minor detour and then got on track with her..thankful for BM’s dresses with pockets that can carry treats!
Beautiful and light-hearted ceremony- we had a Catholic Priest and a Jewish cantor officiate and it was lovely- it moved along well, incorporated humor, and was just very unique-my mom’s best friend sang a song and my husband’s 2 sisters read along with my Aunt.
Great food and drinks-open bar with passed apps and then a full dinner-complete with a mashed potato bar.
Awesome (and extremely affordable) Cake and cupcakes!
Very impressive cookie table (it’s a traditional PA wedding staple..that I brought down south 🙂 (family is from PA)
DJ who really got the party going
Photobooth-TONS of fun and a huge hit
“Shoe Game”- also a big hit
Me- everyone loved my dress and it was so fun to wear-I even kept on my crinoline slip all night mostly b/c I never wanted to leave anything to take it off 😉
Things that could have been better, but weren’t the end of the world: It’s true what is said, things will not go as planned at times and you just have to roll with the punches. I recall waiting on the reception room for the show to get on the road and with every bit of not so great news, I just accepted it and realized that the important part was still to happen.
For me the main things were my Mother-In-Law being 20 min. late to the ceremony (she was asked to be there an hour and a half PRIOR to the ceremony-this essentially cut off 20 minutes of the night)
We rented a bus to take Out of Town guests from the hotel to venue..somehow the driver went ot the wrong country club which was well out of the way- good news is that they were still on time (and beat the MIL)
DJ didn’t play the correct songs for our cake cutting and didn’t start our recessional at the point i asked him to- he was great otherwise
One thing that bugged me more after the fact is that the venue (who set up the centerpieces) didn’t put water in the vases for the hydrangeas (that were being re-used from the ceremony chair rows and placed onto half the ceremony tables ). The poor things were wilting during the reception. I guess I needed to state in my directions to “put water in vases”
I also wished that we had more time for photos since things were rushed a bit, but my wallet thanks that we didn’t include more time 🙂
My bustle broke when my 2 BM’s were trying to figure it out, thankfully my DJ is prepared and saved the day with some safety pins, I think.
and now the fun part-Enjoy!
