My fiance and I have recently decided that we think we want to have our wedding in Texas, which is where we recently moved. However, most of our family and friends live in Illinois and would be traveling for our wedding. We plan on sending Save the Dates out plenty in advance. I just want opinions though..if you were going to be driving/possibly flying out for a wedding…would you rather it be on a Friday night..which then you could kind of have a whole weekend vacation wherever it was…or would you rather it be on a Saturday night? I’ve been going through pro’s and con’s of both in my head…but I just wanted some other opinions. Thanks in advance!

If I was traveling – I think I would want to attend a Saturday wedding. I figure I would then be able to travel on Friday and miss only one day of work rather than having to travel on Thursday to get to a Friday wedding. If I traveled on Friday for a Friday evening wedding – I would be exhausted! 🙂
I see it from the other side, too…if I had the option to take off two days from work, a Friday wedding would be awesome and I would get a long weekend out of it.
This is a toughie!

I have a travel-to wedding coming up the week after I return from my honeymoon and I definitely prefer Saturday night– if it were Friday, we couldn’t go.
We will be flying in Saturday morning, and flying home Sunday afternoon– it sucks, but since we will be just getting back from our 2 week honeymoon; plus I’m taking the week before off, with a saturday wedding, we don’t have to take more time off work.

Saturday, weddings are expensive enough to attend without have to take more of my previous vaction days off.

100% Saturday night.
With Friday, people have to take (at a minimum) one day off work (if not more due to flight schedules).
With Saturday, people can fly in on Friday night and not take any time off work.

I had a Friday wedding and didn’t have any real issues with people taking time off. That being said Saturday is probably ideal for anyone who needs to come a longer distance.
We really enjoyed the Friday option because we saved a great deal of money, it cut down our guest list and we had the whole weekend to relax before leaving for our honeymoon. I would definitely do a Friday again but not everyone feels that way.

I dont think people would mind a Friday night wedding- half of our guests are coming from Canada for our Friday wedding! No one has had an issue yet. If you are expecting a lot of older guests though, or people with very young children, traveling might be an issue. I think Friday is a great option to save a bit of money though, and possibly be able to show your guests a great time without going over budget. I’ve also attended weddings on Fridays and Sundays and it doesn’t seem to make a huge difference to guests, espcaially the people closest to you. Whichever day you choose, your guests will be so happy an excited to come to your wedding!

Saturday– that way we wouldn’t need to take time off of work. We would fly down Saturday morning and back Sunday night. I wouldn’t view it as a vacation, but a fly-in, fly-out.
