If you had to pick an afternoon/evening to attend a wedding would you pick Friday or Sunday? I’m still looking for a venue and have found a lovely place on the foreshore of Perth (Australia) It’s fully booked out on all Saturdays in December (the beginning of summer so lovely and balmy weather) so I was considering Friday or Sunday as an option. The ceremony taking place from 4 – 4.45pm with reception from 6 – 11pm.
A few things that you should know:
- Quite a few of our guests are flying in so they won’t be too fussed about the day.
- People in Australia get 4 – 6 weeks vacation so generally don’t mind taking a day off here or there to party.
- The ones who can’t take time off all live within 20 mins from the location.
So what would you prefer? Friday or Sunday? Why?

Friday. Rush hour at that time might be intense but I would be able to stay out later.

Gah! What is with the Bee ignoring all formatting these days 🙂

@FauxBoho: Your formatting is there. You just can’t see it. It looks good!
Friday. Yeah, it’s a pain in the butt to go through rush hour but I’ll be more inclined to stay the whole time. Sunday? I’m in bed around 10 LOL. If you do a Friday ceremony, give them extra time to get to you. Rush hour is what? 4-6PM? You may have people missing the ceremony because of the time. Of course, that’s if they choose to work that day.

I said Friday, I wouldn’t stay later than like 9 at a reception on a Sunday and I wouldn’t want to have to take a day off of work, if it was on Friday I would just leave a little early. But you said people don’t mind taking a day off here and there.

I voted Friday. I would rather be able to enjoy the evening (even if I had to take a half day off work Friday afternoon) knowing I had the day off the next day, rather than go on a Sunday and feel like I had to leave early/not drink because of going to work the next day.
Venue looks great btw!

Sunday. That’s what I chose. I have been to Friday weddings before and I just didn’t like it. I am absolutely exhausted after the long work week.
If you’re worried that people will bitch about having to go to the work the next day, don’t worry about it. Those that truly want to be there will sacrifice a couple of hours of less sleep for you.

Friday! It’s the beginning of the weekend, so most people will be apt to stay and have a good time, since they’ll be off the next day.

I love the pics.
I’m biased, we had a Friday night wedding. Our ceremony started at 6pm and the reception at 6:30-11pm. We did it because my family had to travel and it gave them 2days after the wedding to hang out at the beach or go to Disney. I really hate Saturday weddings, as a guest, it eats up your whole day.

@FauxBoho: First of, gorgeous location! Cannot wait to see your updates 🙂 🙂
As for the day, I voted Friday.
In general, at least for me, I feel ready to party on Friday and would loveee to be able to go to a fun wedding and have fun after work as opposed to Sunday which is more of a chill day. Does that make sense?

Friday, I wouldn’t want to work the day after the wedding as a guest.

I’d say Friday between the two, but neither are ideal. Going to work the day after a wedding would be terrible, though, so I’d prefer Fridays.

Friday! We were in the same kind of predicament. Our venue was literally booked every Saturday for like 5 months straight. We decided on Friday!
