Hi! My fiance and I are in the process of rescheduling our wedding that was supposed to take place August 2020 in Brooklyn, NY. Our venue has been very helpful allowing us to hold dates while we coordinate with our vendors. We are looking to do August 2021 and the venue only has Friday,August 20th and Friday, August 13 available. We opted for the 20th but a few of our vendors are not available that day. Leaving us with the 13th.
We can look into July but coordinating with the vendors has been a pain. Alot of 2020 brides are pushing their weddings back and scheduling is difficult. We can also switch vendors but I am not sure what refunds will look like. Still a possibility though.
We are not superstitious but it is still kind of weird and gave us pause. I am curious what other brides thoughts are. Would you schedule your wedding on a Friday the 13th?
Thanks in adavance for your thoughts.

Yes, it’s just a day like any other. I’m not superstitious at all and wouldn’t think twice about it.

Right now 20 seems a lot more unlucky than 13.
Seriously though, it doesn’t matter. I’d pick the date that works best. Dates don’t hold any special power.

I know someone who got married on Friday the 13th in December. They’re still happily married and it’s been twenty three years if I’m counting right. I don’t believe in superstitious stuff like that.

We were married in October on Friday the 13th. I did it on purpose 😆 some guests received comments about “who gets married on Friday the 13th?” But the guests never asked us.
I had small black cat charms on the tables as a subtle reminder that it was Friday the 13th. I didn’t want it to be an in your face Friday the 13th wedding, I wanted people to be like… that’s RIGHT, it IS Friday the 13th!
Personally I think it’s a lucky day because everyone thinks it’s unlucky 🤷🏻♀️
The day went smoothly, BUT Thursday the 12th we received a call ON THE WAY to the rehearsal that my step daughter just totaled my husbands car 😩

One of my family members got married on Friday the 13th on purpose. It’s not a big deal in my opinion. 🙂
that black cat confetti is FABULOUS.

If a Friday the 13th date was available, I’d snatch it up right away…I’d fight you for it!

I’m not superstitious, but when I got married in October 2017, venues were pushing me to take Friday the 13th, and it would have been cheaper, because it was a Friday and because no one else wanted the date. I didn’t want to get married on a Friday to prevent people from having to take an extra day off work, especially with some guests that had to travel, and I also didn’t want to have our wedding date be a Friday the 13th. We ended up getting married on Saturday, the 14th.

Sure, why not? I actually think it’s kinda cool and I would go for it.

Thanks for everyones input. SUPER helpful! Luckily our photographer can make August 20th work so we are going with that date ( the date I really wanted!).
