Having the full moon on the 10th and then throwing in the 11/11/11 date-what an incredible opportunity for an unforgettable date and outdoor ambiance to boot. I picked it also and considered the work/school think but it is a holiday for all gov., bank, mail etc. since it is Veteran’s Day and I haven’t met a person yet that doesn’t take off work “just because” every now and then. I felt it would keep the “rush” out of the wedding so that everyone has the weekend to explore, enjoy or go home and gripe.

We are having a Friday wedding and to be honest only one person has complained to us directly (FI’s grandmother who is retired and lives locally anyway). My family and friends support us as best they can and will try to be there.
IF someone cannot come because it is a Friday it isn’t like we don’t care if they are there, more or less we can’t please everyone and have to do what we can to accomodate the majority while keeping in mind our own desires and budget for the day.
If you can get more for your money with a cool date like 11-11-11 then do what you want and your guests will do what they can to be there. Just keep an open mind that there will be some that can’t, just don’t take it personally.

That is our wedding date!! We havent had anyone complain. Friday weddings are becoming more popular. Yes they may have to take off work and such, but not everyone has a mon to fri 9-5 job. There are a lot of people that work weekends etc, so no matter what somebody would have to take off work. You cant please everyone so just ignore it. Its an awesome date even though I am a little bias.

We’re in Ireland, so Friday seems like the perfect choice (though we did it solely on the importance of the date for us). Everyone can drink in the stereotypical Irish fashion and not have to work the next day! Yeo!
The only issue was finding a reception venue, as most of the pubs we checked out didn’t want to compromise their Friday nights!

We chose it because it was the date of our first date ever. So it means a lot to us. We had a little under 60% acceptance to our wedding. However, I think it is mainly due to the fact that about 90% of all the guests are out of state/country and not because it is on a Friday. I thought I would catch more flak about it, but luckily most people have seemed to just roll with the punches and either have been honest about not coming, or are coming either way!
