7 is better! If you like the light, you can always do a first look or family pictures in the venue too.

If you only have one couple traveling I think you are fine.  I would start the ceremony at 6.

Honestly, Friday weddings would suck for me and unless it was a really close friend or family member I’d decline. After working and a 1 1/2 hour commute home I’m usually not interested in jack but a shower, comfort food and Netflix on Fridays. lol But if your must have guests are fine with that time then go for it.

If you know people may have to take off work a 7 start would be better.

Honestly my work situation is flexible and I have lots of PTO so I wouldn’t mind this at all but clearly based on the responses not everyone is that lucky! Basically, Know your guests.

Our wedding was on a Friday at 4PM.  My family is local, my husband’s was not. We definitely got fewer guests than we would have had if we had kept our original Saturday date…..buttttt I got pregnant and we had to move it up :).   We sitll had a blast and it was a great day, even though smaller than originally planned.

I always think you should plan the wedding that makes the most sense to you and your VIPs. As long as you acknowledge and are okay with some people not attending because it’s on a Friday, I think it’s fine. I would try to have it later in the evening rather than earlier.

To be honest, I would find it annoying and complain about it behind your back lol, maybe to your face if I knew you well.

How much is the price difference and is it REALLY such a dream venue that it’s worth inconveniencing all your guests?

I think Friday is a great day for weddings.  I would check with your VIPs and then go from there.

chitownyogini :  My parents got married on a Friday and I thought that was absurd! Until other people my age did it too.. I think that people who really care about you two and who really want to be there will make it work, regardless of the day/time. Like another bee asked, are people traveling? If a lot of people are traveling hours or from out of state, that needs to be taken into consideration. Overall, I think if this is the venue you really love, go for it! 🙂

Friday weddings are fine if 1. I don’t have to travel, 2. I don’t have to take time off work. Leaving early is fine, but taking a vacation day to go to someone’s wedding bothers the crap out of me. A 6PM wedding with no guests traveling is perfectly fine!

You have to do what works best for your budget.  If people want to come they will make Friday work. If not oh well you will have a more intimate wedding. I am having a evening weekday wedding because my venue also had a $3000 price increase for Friday and Saturday.

We had a Friday wedding. Only had 1 decline due to work (from a teacher) our evening guests really liked that it was a Friday as it was held close to our workplaces at the time.

But im in the UK where ppl get lots of paid leave so 1 day wasn’t a big thing .

I wouldn’t mind. But then again I have flex hours and can leave work at 2pm and it’s easy to get a day off. I might actually prefer Friday since it would mean that the wedding woudknt feel like the whole weekend. It really depends on the guests and their location and job.
