I would suggest on doing an inexpensive save the date.  You could probably get them for under $50.  I’m not usually a fan of save the date, but when a friend recently got married on a Friday, I really wished we would have had more notice!  (although she did not send invites out 3 months early)

I’m also having a Friday wedding, but we are also having out of town guests.  I created save the date postcards for about $75 but we are going to have a lot of left over(we were looking for 150 and Vista Printing sells by the 100 or 250) but they are much less than magnets and super cute plus you can save some $$$ on postage!

I would send them since it is a weekday.  I’d also actually have them say Friday instead of just the date just to make sure everyone realizes! Some people might just assume it is Saturday. You can do post card STD pretty inexpensively.

@xo_triciazach_xo: How about taking a picture of you and your Fiance, making some sort of DIY STD on the computer, and e-mailing it to your guests? Or creating a wedding website and passing the link on to people?

I got married on a Friday.  I didn’t want to spend too much money on Save the dates, so I just did a quick design and printed off business card sized ones on my computer with an embossed stamp.

10 per page, so they cost less than 5 dollars for all of them.  Then I popped them in our Christmas cards to save on postage πŸ™‚

We used email for Save-The-Date Cards – I got a picture of us, put the text over it, then emailed it out embedded in the message. I included our website addy so people could get more information if they needed it. Totally free πŸ™‚

You can do your own magnets at home w/ your inkjet printer.  Staples sells sheets of printable magnet paper that are fairly inexpensive.  It will only cost youa  44 cent stamp to send them out.

I made postcards on VistaPrint and got 150 save the date postcards for under $40. Then I only needed postcard stamps which was really convenient. But for a Friday wedding, I would definitely say STD all the way.
