@MsGinkgo:  If it was a fun place where everyone was staying like Mexico or something sure, but if its just people flying in for the weekend then they will have to take extra time off work.

@MsGinkgo:  mine was on a Friday last month, it was great.  Most of our guests were from out of town (5-6hours away), and they really made a weekend out of their trip and got to site see(I live near Washington DC).

Oh, and our savings was $500 with no food minimum.

i’m having a Friday evening wedding 6:30/7pm ceremony , 50 guest max … i like it for the intimate/romantic feel

i think its cool party all night 🙂 no work the next day and you still get to enjoy your weekend.

ETA- ceremony/reception at the same place … this elimates traffic issues, and anything else that can come up with having to travel to a different location

I say go for it! I’m having my DW in Hawaii on a Monday since it will be our 4 year anniversary being together so we wanted our wedding date to be meaningful.

I don’t see a problem. That is why employers give us vacation days. Most adults get time off from work. Whats one more day if they were going to go anyway?

@MsGinkgo:  We are not saving much doing it on a Friday – believe it or not I saw Friday the 13th was available and I couldn’t NOT get married on that day.

If you are having out of town guests, you will likely have lower attendance with a Friday wedding as guests will have to take extra time off of work.

How about Sunday?  That’s usually a hefty discount, too.  Guests would have to take off a Friday (most likely) for a typical Saturday wedding; with Sunday they’d have to take off Monday. Either way they’d be taking a day off.

I see Friday weddings as a way for the B and G to save money, and pass those expenses off to the guests.

For saving 2,000 dollars your guests will all loose at least one probably 2 days pay or vavation time (which is worth more since it’s so limited).

If everyone is local and it starts 730 o later, it’s ok. Not awesome, but decent.
