@cuddlz88:  i have a friend similar, not married yet tho. Constantly either copies or compares things to me. Problem is i also work wth her. She was absolutly mortified when i didnt ask her to be in my bridal party and since has become even more difficult to be around. also because she is older then me she believes she should be first (yet her boyfriend is only 18)

Puts a damper on your day

At the end of the day, the problem is clearly hers and not yours. Just grit your teeth and try and think of her as someone with a few too many personality quirks. Life’s too short to let people affect you. She’s probably much more unhappy than you are in having to deal with her.

Honestly I don’t think she is jealous or competitive- she is just disinterested and probabaly a little self obsessed. Honestly OP you sound a little bit jealous of her if anything- complaining how she has it easy and everything is just given to her. Also her attitude and personality is jus that- hers- you either accept her as your friend as she is or you end the friendship. No one will change their personaility just because you are getting married!

Friendship isn’t about judging your friends. Maybe try talking to her about not feeling like your firendship is close.

@cuddlz88:  I know what you mean, my friend expects her boyfriend to buy her EVERYTHING and pay for everything even though he earns min wage

I have a cousin like that. When it starts to get toxic I pull away. When I’ve had a long break I feel ok reaching out to her but I can’t always handle that in My life! I do NOT think you are jealous at all! I feel you girl! It’s just…annoying sometimes!

Not to be rude, but it comes off as if you are including the part about her having no job and nothing going to make yourself appear better.  That really isn’t a valid reason to be annoyed with anyone.  It comes off as if you’re jealous.  Maybe she has a valid reason for not working that you aren’t aware of.

I completely understand the annoyance with her comparing her wedding to yours.  Its not fair and its rude.  Perhaps you should limit your interactions to necessity only for a while.
