- Wedding: June 2013
I am new to this wedding forum but I need to hear your opinions. I had a friend from high school (who I had seen only through friends, hung out occasionally, and didn’t keep in touch that much through college)… and she automatically assumed that she was going to be a part of my Bridal party. I had to confront her about it when she started making plans for showers, creating pinboards for my wedding, and looking at bridesmaids dresses. I calmy, kindly, and respectfully told her she was not going to be in my bridal party but that I valued her friendship. I am on a TIGHT budget and half of my bridal party is already my sisters and Future Sister-In-Law. I have felt SO bad but I know I did the right thing than to just let it go and drag on… getting her hopes up. I have told her I was sorry for any hurt or confusion I may have caused, but that this is a tough decision I had to make. She has been treating me poorly since then trying to manipulate me to make her part of my bridal party. She is now also making snide comments about helping with my bridal showers because “she doesn’t have a job in my wedding” otherwise. I am fed up and hurt after I already was upset that I had to tell her she wasn’t going to be a part of my day like that. She is a guest at my wedding, which is only about 100 people (with half of them being AC’s and my family).
If these snide comments continue or she keeps trying to manipulate me… I am going to consider not inviting her to the wedding. How would y’all deal with the situation?
