Did she offer first, or did you ask first?

I think a nice gift would suffice. One of my best friends is a wedding designer and former florist and she offered to do our flowers. We opted to go with a local florist, just because my friend lives across the country and we didn’t want her to be stressed flying out here doing all of that before the wedding. When we were considering it though we were planning to pay for her hotel for 2 nights and then some type of small gift. I doubt your friend is expecting payment and I think it could be kind of awkward to just straight out pay her.

I would do a nice gift though.

Sounds like the roles weren’t clearly defined up front.   Bring up up one day saying “I didn’t get your bill yet.” She will probably say “I did it as your gift”.  Then you can thank her and say you didn’t want to make that assumption.   If she says “whatever you think” then you have to decide what and how much.
