Hi Bees 🙂
I got engaged last November, and it was with a ring I chose while shopping with my hubby. I’m kind of artsy, and he is very classic, so he thought I should pick out my ring. I narrowed it down to two final rings, but was very vocal about which was my favorite haha. And it was GORGEOUS… a .75 carat round diamond (with perfect specs) in a vintage-inspired halo with an intricate white gold band. Then for my wedding band, I chose a row of diamonds in a really pretty style of pronging (I don’t know all the terminology haha) that looked good with my e ring. While I was engaged, I lost diamonds from a certain spot in the halo repeatedly, and was always having to have them reset. It was frustrating. I finally was told that I could reset my center diamond in another setting, and could choose the same one if I wanted, since there was clearly a defect with my particular setting. So I said we would reset the little halo diamonds one last time, and if they fell out again, I would swap it out.
This was my ring on my engagement day…
Here was my gorgeous ring set on my wedding day…
Anyway. SHortly after my wedding, the diamonds fell out again, so I went in to get it reset in the same setting, because I LOVE it. Well.. apparently I am not the only one who has had this issue, so the ring was recalled. So I had a store credit for the same amount as my original setting to find a new one. The halos in my price range didn’t hold a diamond as big as mine, becasue the setting was actually really inexpensive (795). So I settled on a classic setting that was really pretty and timeless…
And I mean… it’s gorgeous, i love it, but.. it just doesn’t feel like “ME”. Would I be crazy to add a cushion shaped halo? I just miss having a halo, because it was so my style… I would love to have one just to have a ring that I don’t feel sad about. Not having my halo reminds me constantly that I had to change my ring away from my original, and it makes me a little sad! I found out my jeweler would be able to add the cushion halo to my center diamond and still in my setting for only $550, which seems very reasonable! Here is a split shank round siamon e-ring with a cushion halo, which I think would be kind of what my setting would look like when you set it against the wedding band..
Anyway.. I know this is super long. But.. am I being crazy and dumb? Do I just need to suck it up and get over it and deal with my current ring? Or is it okay for me to think about getting a halo added to my ring? Not right this minute, but within the next year or so… I just need some help from fellow crazy ring lovers like me 🙂 Thanks!!
