Also just thank you everyone! I have been feeling super guilty about even trying to go abroad. My parents tell me not to worry about it and a part of me feels like I am damned if I do and damned if I don’t. I fell like even if I was around for the showers or bacherolette party I would do something wrong in her eyes.

rhoton23 : Perhaps she’s trying to build a relationship with her future sister in law? I know that a lot of people can get annoyed with wedding talk so I didn’t want to bore most of my bridal party with details all the time, but I knew that my sister in law LOVES that kind of stuff so I told all my ideas to her to give us something to talk about and we got a lot closer that way! So many your sister thought that you wouldn’t really be interested and she didn’t want to annoy you? If you are interested, I’m sure she’d love it if you ask her questions and support her ideas, it might build the relationship between you two.
I definitely wouldn’t cancel your study abroad. Talk to your sister and maybe your mom if she’s involved and let them know you want to be there for your sister and you’d like to be involved in these activities. Maybe tell them May is a hectic month for most people with college graduations, mother’s day and memorial day so it might be smart to have events in other months for a better turnout.
