Hi bees! We just bought a house and are moving in! 🙂 There is a bit of an awkward (?) area though, as you walk into the front door, directly left is a glass sliding door closet and straight and right opens up to the living room immediately… We were thinking of putting some sort of bench right to the right to help partition some sort of defined space… What do you all think?? Do we just leave it??

Haruyou: It’s a fairly common problem. Here are some ideas. What will work for you depends on the size and your furniture.

When ours is done building it will be kind of the same, only we are having floorboards in the entry that follow the ‘hallway’ up through the rest of the house and the living room directly to the right will be carpeted. I am HOPING that this creates enough of a feeling of a separate room. I think the bench idea is good!
ETA, I just read julies post and I love, love, love that bookshelf idea!

We have this issue on our own house. Do you have another door you can use? We renovated the back porch to a nice mudroom/coat area and most of our guests come in that way now!
