My boss lost a lot of weight on slimgenics, and has kept it off for years now. When she feels like the weight is starting to creep back on, she will do a juice diet, and it always works for her. The juice diet is a little extreme, so she helped me find a plan that involves basically just fruits, vegetables, and plain chicken breast for lunch or dinner, plus vitamins for awhile. Apparently you lose weight pretty fast, and it kind of “resets” your body to absorb vitamin rich foods faster after your body cleanses itself. I am excited to try it (gonna be on it for at least a week and go from there), has anyone tried a diet like this or a more extreme diet that works pretty good? I am 5’11 and 170, trying to get down to 145 or 150. Thanks for any advice or tips!!!
ps- I know that not everyone is not into extreme diets, or cleanses, I realize the risks, so am looking for success stories, or girls looking to do the same thing.

This diet is more or less a spinoff of the juice detox diet. I just know that I am going to rip somone’s head off by day 3 if I’m only drinking juice and not eating something solid!!! lol!!!!!! Basically it involves the more nutrient rich vegetables— a lot of spinach and broccoli in particular— along with most any fruits. You eat a lot— they are all so low in calories. But I’m sure i will still feel hungry. Then at dinner, I’m incorporating one chicken breast for protien.

I hope it goes well for you! I have lost weight successfully eating only fruits, veggies, and lean meat (chicken or turkey only), though I didn’t do anything with juicing. I’ll be checking back to see if it works for you – I too have a little bit I want to lose.

@organizedbride11: Im in the same boat! I am in my friends wedding on 09/10/11 and I need a little more room in my Bridesmaid or Best Man Dress! Then I just want to keep it off until my wedding and honeymoon of course!

@thetraceface: So question… are the veggies consumed only raw? Or can they be cooked. I try to be vegan as much as possible for weight loss and health, so this isn’t too far off but I am a vegetarian, so maybe I can do with it with tofu, tempeh or seitan.

@Mrs.Firefly1: I tried to mix cooked and raw vegetables, maybe 50/50 or leaning more towards the raw side. I do eat plenty of salads, raw veggies with hummus, etc. – but I also love roasting veggies, making zucchini noodles with sauteed mushrooms and marinara or pesto sauce, and so on. Before this my diet was full of processed food, so I really tried to convert to a healthier lifestyle without going so overboard that I can’t maintain it. Also – I tried not to eat carbs and actually went a long time without bread, rice, or pasta – but I did give in a little here or there.
As a side note, I did this last year. I have pretty much taken the summer off (I am a teacher, so my world revolves around the school year), but I am now recommitted to getting back to weight loss!

@thetraceface: Thanks for all that info! Since I became a veggie a year ago, I committed myself to only become a healthy veggie. Which is a great thing in the first place because being a veggie itself keeps you away from pretty much most fast food places easily. I also decided to make fresh foods my priority. I hardly go down the processed food aisles. And my grocery bill is such much lower! : )
I don’t mean to prey, but how did the weight loss go? Did you also work out?
Is there a number you can throw out of there of pounds lost?
