It’s actually better to BD one and two days prior to ovulation. So Wednesday (and also Tuesday) would have been ideal if you ovulated on Thursday. Good luck!

Any sex in the fertile window can result in a pregnancy – you certainly shouldn’t count yourself out just because you didn’t hit O-day!  It sounds like you had at least 2 good BDs within your fertile window, so you just need to wait and see!  If you ovulated on Thursday, you should be able to start testing this weekend – best of luck! 🙂

it’s actually beneficial to have sex BEFORE you ovulate.  Sperm go through a process called capacitation, which prepares them to fertilize the egg.

As everybody else has said, doing it one to two days before ovulation is ideal. Only a very small percentage of pregnancies happen on the day *of* ovulation.

Though this isn’t a problem for every couple, we think we had an issue with low sperm count…and statistically speaking, pregnancy rates don’t differ much between people who time intercourse for ovulation and those who just have sex every-other-day throughout the month. I think we were actually BDing (and he was uh, using up his ammo in between) too often. Switched to the Sperm-Meets-Egg Plan and I was pregnant in the first month…after 9 previous failed cycles.

Hang in there.

I didn’t BD on my ovulation day and I’m 10 weeks pregnant now.

We BD on Monday and Wed and my ovulation date was either Thursday or Friday.

We BD’d on a Tuesday, I O’d on a Friday, and have a perfect little 7 month old as a result, so I’d say you’re still in it!!

I just wanted to chime in to say that we didn’t DTD on O day in either of my pregnancies. Once was 5 days before ovulating, and the other was 3, 2 & 1 day before ovulating.

Good luck! Don’t lose hope yet!

Good luck! I know exactly when I ovulate due to charting and I can also feel it. When I got pregnant with my daughter we BD the day before and 2 days before. This time around we BD the day of. I have definitely heard that doing it before is most effective.

My first child is a boy.  I wanted to naturally try for agirl for my second (understanding that either was fine…just wanted to enhance the chances of a girl).  So, we did it several days before O, as girl sperm are supposedly slower swimmers but live longer.  Anyway, I got a girl.  So to answer your question, you don’t have to do it on the day of ovulation…
