- Wedding: September 2013
Once upon time, I was not engaged. I was a girl who sat and pinned things on my Pinterest account and imagined my beautiful wedding and every perfect detail. Then a diamond appeared on my finger and I turned into an indecisive doormat.
I originally approached the wedding with a rustic/shabby chic/wintage mix theme in mind (like everyone else). We sat down for a styling session with the wedding planner and came away with a 1920’s/Speak Easy theme. Really cool, but it almost seemed a tad alcohol themed which is not our personalities at all. Then I started looking for ideas and decor and formal wear and decided that this theme was going to box me in and limit me and so I decided that my wedding is now “Devin themed.” Big mistake, since Devin no longer knows what she wants at all. I am terrified that this wedding is going to end up looking thrown together and not at all what I want.
I am about to have meltdown over party attire. My original idea for the girls was chiffon, short and neutrals, this morphed into pinky toned (at Maid/Matron of Honor suggestion), light colored dresses and now my wedding planner has suggested the neutrals again. I have changed my mind so much, I don’t know if I am coming or going. If I find the exact colors I like, the dress is $300! To add to the problem, I really want mismatched maids. I didn’t realize what a headache that would be. For a care free bride, it would probably not be a problem. For an anal retentive bride, it is a big problem. I want the mismatched look but I want it to be cohesive. If I turn my girls loose with paint chips, I will have an anxiety attack before it is all over. I have even switched to a more casual look altogether and I think I have lost my mind, and so does my Fiance.
Here are some various ideas for wedding party looks that I have mulled over:
This is close to my idea for the shades of pink but all chiffon. I am not a silk or satin fan
I love how this party is all in different shades and dress styles. This also looks like this bride was one of those who let her girls pick on their own and it came together like a miracle. She’s so brave.
This party is a mismatch that is still very matched. Not sure how I feel about it.
Don’t even get me started on the menswear. The original idea was a light grey suit with a vest. Groomsmen in vest only, groom in jacket. NO ONE sells this! If they do, the sizing is limited or there are only 2 in stock, or it is an $800 suit. Every wedding website is bursting with men dressed like this, how come we can’t find anything???? I have looked at Studio Suits but Fiance is nervous about them being oversees and I am also nervous that it is not a brick and mortar based company.
Anyway, I am not sure what I am looking for here. Someone to tell me I am not crazy or give me a magnificent website that has the answers to all my problems or just advice on the favorite look for the girls.
