@SeaTurtle88:  I know how you feel. did you recently come off the pill? When was your last annual visit to the doctor?  I would suggest reaching out to your doctor, he/she may help you kick start a period., but if you recently got off BCP, im afraid certain people are prone to long cycles before they’re “regular”. If you’re really upset and frustrated, a visit to the doctor might help you feel more at ease.

@SeaTurtle88:  Wow, that is long and i dont blame you for being frustrated. If such a long cycle is not normal for you, i would probably call within the next week if AF doesnt show up.

I’d call and let them know and ask for prometrium or provera (I like prometrium better) to kick start a cycle for you.  It won’t induce ovulation, but it will cut down on the chances of developing cervical area cancer issues (which can happen when the lining gets too thick for too long).  My OB didn’t want me going past 40 days each cycle.

I personally waited a couple long cycles to call but I just wanted to see if it was a fluke or not before going thru all the tests. My cyles were 66, 72, and now I’m on day 45 with no end in site. I did end up going to the doctor a week after my 72 day cyle and she ran tests and determined my hormones are all out of whack and she suspects it might be pcos (but I’m hesitant to accept that diagnosis). I guess my point is if you have been regular this might be a fluke. But if you aren’t worried about bloodwork and such then there is no harm in going in now.

Do you feel otherwise healthy and normal? Do you have any signs of PCOS, thyroid issues, endo etc.? If your body doesn’t seem right, I’d see the doc right away.

Your chart looks alot like mine. It took me 83 days to ovulate and then have a period after stopping the pill. I had a pelvic exam, ultrasound and bloodwork that were all normal. My conclusion is it that I actually stressed my body out of normal functioning. Both of our charts clearly show signs of the body getting ready to ovulate and then just not…I read somewhere your body has to feel like it is “safe” to get pregnant. So if you are stressing it just won’t ovulate. Even if you feel like your body is otherwise normal it might help you to relax to rule out any issues. If you decide to keep waiting I recommend de-stressing. I finally ovulated when we went out of town for a mini-vacation and I ate a bunch of treats. I don’t think it was a coincidence : ) Good luck!

@SeaTurtle88 :  I totally could’ve written this post!  I also stopped BC this past summer, the only difference is that I had one normal cycle and then pretty much none at all.   I got fed up on Day 50-something of this cycle about a week ago, so I called my doctor and they prescribed me 5 mg Aygestin to help kick-start my period.  The cycle before this, I went over 130 days.  I definitely don’t think I’ve been ovulating.

I’ve been taking the Aygestin for about 6 days now, with no sign of AF.  I take it at night since it makes me feel crampy.  They told me to take it for 10 days and that I should get my period after 3-4 days, but to call them if I finish the medication and don’t get AF.

Totally understand your frustration…FX for both of us!!

After I went off the pill I had a extra long cycle on cyle 2. I had been on OCP’s for a long time (>10 yrs) and I had a period about 30 days after stopping the last pack. The next cycle was 56 days! I was just casually tracking and didn’t even realize how long had passed. It finally came and I’ve been 28-32 days for every cycle since the long one (8 more). I think you are ok to wait a bit longer but I agree that after 60 or so days it may warrant being checked out. Hopefully it will come soon!

I had a 58 day cycle last November.  Very fluke.  Longest I ever had! It was also the same time I got sick and had a kidney infection.  Were you sick at all or have a uti?? Hope you get it soon!

I hear you!  My last cycle was 59 days.  I didn’t think my Dr. was going to tell me anything useful, so I didn’t end up calling.  I figured she’d just tell me to keep waiting.  I don’t know at what point I would have reconsidered.  For me, I started exercising and eating only organic, whole foods.  I got spotting about 6 days later.  I think exercise can really help.
