That is fustrating!!  He’s arleady acknowledged that he has it at least and will drop it off, so he could just be procrastinating and lazy.  It took me at least a week to drop something off at the mail box at work, and I arleady had it at my desk, AND the box is just on the other side of the building, yet I was too lazy to make it over there.  Makes it 500000x worse that he has a  wedding ring, but doesnt sound like he’s trying to steal it since he admitted to having it.  I’d give him a few more days before calling the cops.  Did you try his door later in the evenings?

Man, that is frustrating. I would keep calling and knocking on his door all hours of the day/night. I know he said he had class the one day for 3 hours, so right when those 3 hours are up on that day next week can you keep an eye on his apt. and go over right when you see him pull in? You would think this wouldn’t be such a big deal and he would just take it to the office. I hope he didn’t lose it or something.

I would think if he was going to do anything fishy with it, he wouldn’t have admitted to having it.  I think you’re okay!

This is where I would go CRAZY with kindness.  As in, bake cookies and leave them with a bottle of wine and a THANK YOU TIMES ONE MILLION card on his doorstep.

I had a very similair situation with some earrings I ordered for one of my bridesmaids.  They were real gemstone earrings so I tried really hard to get them back.  The neighbor said he had it, the post man rememebred delivering it, and there was a tracking number.  Sad to say I never got it back =( – but these were young college frat boys.

I would say just dont give up and kindness not threats will get you a lot farther.  Calling the police probably wouldnt do anything anyway.  I would go over there every night until you caught him at home.  He would probably hand it to you if he answered the door and you were standing there.

Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

He’s probably just a busy student and forgot to drop it off. Just kindly remind him!

It’s a federal offense if he opens it, even if it was sent the wrong address.  If it’s not addressed to you, legally, you can’t open it.  Good luck!

I’m sure he is just unorganized and has no idea how important that package is to you. I’ve had this happen to me before too and my neighbor never answered his door, but eventually dropped the packages off when I wasn’t home (that’s how people in NYC operate apparently).

If he doesn’t cough up the package in the next few days or even a week, slip a note under his door saying you have no choice but to alert the police if you don’t get your package from him in the next 24 hours. That should make him get organized fast and drop it off.

@Unicorn: Wow…. Thats really bad. Sorry to hear this for you. I would call the police and file a report but only if necessary
