So tonight I thought absolutely no wedding stuff. Its friday night here and you may say why am I in on a night like this?
Well we are on a very strict budget.. and I mean strict, account every dollar. FH also works saturday mornings so we dont head out friday night, and my closest girl friends work saturdays also.
So tonight.. I cooked tea, decided to watch a movie.. and my brain just CANNOT switch off… I was thinking of my DIY projects, invites, flowers..and I couldnt watch the movie. So i thought, Ill read a book? get my mind off things.. didnt work either. I insisted to FH that I get out of the house and just go for a drive as I was going insane trying to get my brain to switch off and just think at least something other than weddings. By the end of the drive we came in and FH went to bed as he early rises and I gave in to the wedding bug.
It was soo hard not to think about wedding stuff tonight and to make things worse, we already scheduled wedding stuff in the afternoon tomorrow with a vendor. So cant get out of it.
Signed, frustrated and annoyed and depressed
I want to think about things other than a wedding for a week. I used to be able to do this. why not now? anyone else in the same boat?

Ha! I’m the same way. I just want it to get done!
It helps to have another MAJOR distraction. I know you are being careful and not spending money, but honestly for me it’s vacation that starts next friday. But if i’m tired of thinking of both…
I put together inspiration boards of what I want rooms in my future home to be like, for themed cocktail parties, I read magazines, and I post on here on the “non-wedding” stuff. It usually helps!

Your right that I need another distraction.. Unfortunately for me its work, wedding stuff, karate sometimes during the week (not open on weekends) visiting friends and thats about it. I dont really have a main project. I used to love making cute cards and designing things. But now when I hop on the computer or sit at my craft table its not as relaxing, I start my DIY projects and then I think the other things I used to enjoy doing are pointless, because Ill never get the other stuff done.
*breathes* sigh* never ending merry go round.

Centering activities like your karate are good for what you need- but you are probably too familiar with that routine to stimulate the area of your brain that is craving stimulation. Several activities that I have used to focus are archery, driving at the golf range, and target shooting with pistols. Besides for not being able to hit the side of a barn… the bang and power of shooting draws out a wave of good adrenaline for me. If your brain is wired right now to only think about the wedding, you are going to be set up more easily for a little depression after you come back from your honeymoon.

That happens to me about one time a month… I will get so stressed just seeing that a tv show about weddings is on it drives me crazy so I take a week off from everything planning so by the time the following week comes im excited to do it. Try to relax dont do anything wedding related including come on the bee (Lol) you seem so active! you just need to simmer down a bit, You have plenty of time as long as the major stuff is out of the way. : )

When I consciously tried not to think about weddings, I couldn’t do it either. What worked for me was focusing on other stuff – errands for the apt, making plans with friends, travel plans, work, exploring NYC with Fiance…so not one other big project, but just lots of smaller things.

I think everyone planning their wedding is consumed with wedding thoughts. Things you have to do. Payments you have to make. Timelines, music lists etc. There are so many details that I find it hard not to think wedding all day every day. I really haven’t found any other way around it!

cheers for the feedback girls. good to know that im not alone with the consuming wedding. Mind you im not obsessively always talking about weddings with people or doing that. Thats what I have the bee for to chat away. def not that kind of person. Just think my mind is going over time. I am a very detailed person and I tend to worry alot till its completed.

DEFINITELY not alone!
I sit in class and in my head write and rewrite what’s going to be on our website, which is my big right-now project. 🙂 You can guess how that’s affecting my studies…
It’s hard to turn it off! Because 1) it DOES need to get done, 2) it’s a big deal!, and 3) you get in the habit of thinking about it. all the freaking time. and then it’s hard to break that habit.
