I tried to write an honest review on a makeup/hair stylist that I used, but the vendor, Bellabyamber, or Bella by Amber, keeps disputing and deleting it my review! I feel like Eventwire, associated with Weddingwire, sides with the vendor because they pay for a subscription. She keeps telling them that I am lying, and they believe her and revoke my review. I heard alot of girls use their trial to also take engagement photos or parties, so I planned my trial on the day of my bridal shower. I payed with a check and there was no written contract other than the deposit for the wedding. I did not use her for the wedding because I didn’t liker her work. She is using this technicality to get out of having honest reviews on weddingwire.
I feel that potential clients should have the right to read all of a vendor’s reviews, positive and negative, and make their own informed decision. This is really frustrating and I feel like my voice is not being heard.

Bridal Shower on 02/11/2012
(0.8 / 5.0)
“I used Amber from Bella by Amber to do makeup and hair for me. I used this opportunity to try out her hair and makeup skills and also to be photo ready for my bridal shower that evening. Her prices seemed reasonable so I thought I’d give it a try, but it was a terrible mistake. Her skills in makeup and hair are very poor. The result was very unprofessional. Instead of the nice glow i wanted i got more of a fake orange tan look. She took my constructive criticism very poorly and made excuses as to why it didn’t look like what I wanted instead of correcting the issues and taking ownership. I found her difficult to work with. She made me feel really uncomfortable and I felt like she was not listening to what I wanted. I hope that other brides will think twice about using her and not be lured in by the lower price. It was definitely not worth it and I would recommend paying a little more for someone who is actually trained to do makeup. There is most definitely a difference.”
Has anyone had a similar experience and have any advice? Thanks in advance.

I hate bad service, and people who don’t take ownership. She obviously as you say took your criticism personally. With your review you could prevent other disappointed clients and get her to take necessary steps to improve her skills, but as you say your comments keep getting deleted. You are entittled to voice your opinion but Amber definitely has some connection here and I can’t see how you could use this avenue to do it.

If she’s a local service, review her on Yelp and other sites. Don’t just use Weddingwire.

Wow! Anyone that defensive (her facebook page) just makes themself look guilty anyway. I think that your review is a fair one. You don’t sound at all emotional about it – just sharing information and observations. It’s unfortunate that weddingwire allows vendors to have a say in their reviews – seems like that would unfairly inflate ratings and give prospective clients unfair expectations.
