I’m very excited! My Future Sister-In-Law just got engaged a week ago and last night she asked me to be her Maid/Matron of Honor. I’m very honored. I’ve never been a Maid/Matron of Honor before. She’s getting married in August, so we’ve got to move quickly but I’m so happy for her!!
So bees, any good Maid/Matron of Honor tips?

@MsTeddy – Thanks! I’m glad you and your Future Sister-In-Law also have a good relationship as well! I adore my Future Sister-In-Law. I’m the only person my Fiance has ever dated that she has liked (haha) so she and I get along very well. I was very honored she asked me to be Maid/Matron of Honor. :]

That’s great news! Congrats! What is your Maid/Matron of Honor helping you with? I would maybe gift her wedding planning book and help her on the wedding planning so that she could have her dream wedding. I would also help her to pick the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, help her address her invitations, and help plan the bridal shower! Yay! Sounds like fun.

That’s so exciting – congrats! I’ve never been the Maid/Matron of Honor, but I think what I would appreciate most from mine would be asking about the wedding/being interested in it, throwing a shower, and occasionally checking to see if I need help with anything else.

@thefuturemrsgibbs – My Maid/Matron of Honor is my sister and she’s pretty much been active in everything so far, as far as throwing her ideas at me and being supportive and stuff. I know once it comes time for addressing invites, etc she’ll be there also! I am already working on bridal shower plans & we’re going to look for her dress soon!
@girlwitharing – That’s pretty much what I figured, just being there whenever she needs me!
Thanks for all your advice!

Congrats! That is a big honor. I’ve never been a MOH before either, I think I would probably ask her what it is she’ll expect from you. And whatever it is, I’d get on it right away. She didn’t give you guys much time, yikes! 🙂

@jennifer_espos – Yeah, not much time at all! Lol and they’re both so laid back about the wedding, I’m more stressed about mine and theirs is before mine!
@Corgi – I know! I feel very lucky. I’ve got some great in laws!

That’s so awesome! My Maid/Matron of Honor gave me a subscription to Brides when I got engaged, and so when she got engaged last month I sent the same thing to her. I love being able to talk/plan our weddings around the same time.
My main thing is to just try and be there for her whenever she needs me. She’s planning from out of state, so I made it a point to be available when she comes into town to go dress shopping with her. She did the same thing for me last weekend, so it’ll be dress shopping round two this weekend when we go for her.
Good luck and have a blast!

I’ve never been an Maid/Matron of Honor, but i wish mine would be more involved…ive done everything, and some of my bridesmaids have been more supportive than she has been….kinda hurtful, but oh well.
my ideal Maid/Matron of Honor would want to be involved with the big stuff – picking the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, picking my dress, showers, etc. I think if you show interest in the planning and helping…that means the world…to me anyway.
