@Tostones: Exactly. It is clear she doesn’t want to resolve anything, otherwise she would approach it with a different tone and more respectable choice of words. Instead, she just wants a fight. So, don’t fight. 😉 Great addition there in following FI’s lead on it, though. Very important to respect that family boundary.

She sounds like my old boss.  Seriously, she could have written that email–word for word.  From experience, she is doing this to get a reaction out of you guys.  She lives for the drama.  Just ignore it.  Keep her as a reader, ignore all nasty emails and be kind and courteous to her always.  It will piss her off to no end and soon, you’ll get a sick kind of joy from being sweet and kind to her.

For therapy sake, I like to compose (BUT NOT SEND) replies.  Usually I go through the entire thing, line by line and refute every point.

“You said that I was a fat cow blah blah whatever”

Actually, I pulled you out from the path of a charging bull.  Thanks for the appreciation.

I keep the kindness theme here but am pretty sarcastic–it’s good practice for being nice to her and I get to vent my frustrations in a coherent manner.  BUT DON’T SEND IT. Don’t even keep it in your drafts folder if she could possibly ever get into it.
